Bits of minor news:
AUPs can now be processed all over LHR, so LHR T5 has joined up with T3 in allowing non ticketing staff to do AUPs. They do need to call FMU to get the seat released, but there is no need to go to (e.g.) Customer Service desk in South Galleries Club. All the Premium team can do these (so the ones with blue badges), and I suspect almost all the other ground staff at LHR T5 too, unless perhaps very new to the role.
NCL can do AUPs, not all staff can do it, so try to do it at check-in rather than relying on lounge staff, though some of them can do AUPs.
Looking for confirmation from someone: can LCY, which is Menzies, do AUPs? I know it can't be done airside.
Goodness how many threads all over Flyertalk I've put comments about "go to the ticketing staff" but it's not needed any more. This happened about a week ago.
