2017 POUG rate tracker

Please add your own successful results to the follow list including the month/year when the POUG was offered to you. Please delete any figures from 2017 or earlier if you have a 2018 price. Previous data lives on via post 2.

UPDATED TO: Post #418

POUGs are offered via BA.com and the App Manage My Booking via a distinctive banner (example from MMB below). You cannot get a POUG by telephoning, however the service centres can complete a POUG which falls over mid transaction. They are offered on cash and Avios redemptions but typically not on complex routings, BA Holidays or travel agency bookings until OLCI stage. POUGs on Avios redemptions won't get you additional TPs/Avios, but they will on revenue tickets.

Short haul routes from LON to/from Europe
A price in pounds indicates a ticket issued from London, other currencies indicate prices for tickets issued overseas (e.g. singles or returns originating from CDG priced in Euros). Multiple prices indicate a range of fares are on offer. Note that LCY prices currently seem to be on a different basis to LGW and LHR (cheaper, in other words).

Booked via TA.
... I've just had the same offer, and accepted, through the app. What's interesting is this was a corporate TA booking, and I've never previously managed a POUG on one of these online. Usually involves a call -- and often an awful lot of waiting on hold. If this is now standard I'm delighted.

I couldn't see in the original post, but is there any rhyme or reason to when these get offered, and a way to find out the likelihood?
I was meant to be going to VCE next week, but had to cancel it (yay travel insurance) as I had an operation and I'm not recovered yet. I booked that back in December or so, and got a POUG to CE which I took.
I've booked a new flight for September (a week or so ago- annoyingly more expensive) but no offer yet... so then I wonder...

Does the fact I accepted one before mean I'm more likely to get one again?
Does the fact I looked at the full cost upgrade price (but didn't pay it) in MMB mark me as "might upgrade" so I am more likely to get one?
I assume flight loads come into it somehow? If it's looking quiet up front they're more likely to offer it?

Or is it all black-box and no one knows...?

Some recent experiences EDI-LON ; traveling with partner on separate bookings on same flights last weekend.

Her via BA.com: EDI-LCY offered £60 a couple of weeks before flight - taken for TPs and Row 1 on E170. LGW-EDI offered £70 approx a week before flight - ignored.
Me booked via work TA: EDI-LCY offered £60 approx 3 days before flight - taken for TPs and FOMO factor :-). LGW-EDI offered £70 at check-in - ignored.

Also have an offer of £69 sitting on an EDI-LHR that appeared approx 3 days after booking - still considering whether this is worth it or not...

Have updated the Wiki for these.

Is POUG based on a specific fare class availability? MMB offers me two seats (WTP>CW) for SIN-LHR on 12/6 but both callcenters could not see the availability in their system. Flight is currently J9 C9 D9 R9 I0

A few data points for ET to CE

LGW-AMS and AMS-LCY both £69 each way

LHR-MAD and back both £159 each way

The MAD legs were booked on possibly the cheapest far bucket (paid roughly £88 return) took the return leg on the 777 which should give me the 40TPs extra i need to retain gold as well as being ridiculously cheaper than booking a straight CE fare.

MAN/LHR £59 each way.

This is on a cheap £90 same day return fare booked in G one week in advance. I’d previously called to change into N fare class so that I could UuA. Was looking at £60 plus additional £26 taxes and then 8000 abios. Alternative, BA.com were trying to suggest an upgrade for just £466!

Took the upgrade on the return as want the TPs. The extra space and opportunity for a drink or two are also welcome.
