BA have LHR-HEL-TLL in J/Y for about £235 return, yielding 200TPs and offering the possibility of a ride on the Finnair A350 or a blue & yellow Airbus (for a €130 surcharge). See also this thread for more details and discussion of the fare.

FAQ

Where to sit on the HEL-TLL-HEL legs?
If the flight is operated by an ATR-72, then at the back because boarding and disembarking is through stairs at the back of the plane. However, for more legroom the first row (which can be row 1 or 2 depending on the ATR) is the best choice. In HEL there will be a bus transfer, in TLL the plane will pull up at the gate and stairs are used to go one level up to the departures and arrivals area (same level).
Seatmaps for Finnair planes can be found here.

Row 1 on the E90 provides the best leg room.

Please note that this flight usually takes between 15 and 22 minutes. During the flight, a crew member walks through the cabin with a basket of chocolates. No drinks are served and the fasten seat belt sign usually remains on for the duration. No chocolates on the ATR72 flights, unfortunately.

Also note that overhead bin space on the ATR-72 is limited and you might be asked to put your luggage under the seat in front of you. They do not offer gate bag check in.

How to get to town?
Information on public transportation has been provided here (courtesy of Valgamaa).

Where to stay in Tallinn?
Information have been provided here.

Where to eat/drink in Tallinn?
Here, here and here

How much time do I need at TLL to go through security?
TLL airport is very small. With fasttrack you can be at the gate within 10 minutes. Boarding for the 6.10am flight is officially 5.30 or so, but it usually starts later than that. AY's ATR usually leaves from gate 5, the E90 left from gate 9. Anyways, it doesn't really matter where it leaves, because the airport is so small.

Do I get lounge access at TLL?
Yes, show your HEL-LHR boarding pass also to get access.
For directions, please use the TLL terminal map.

Do I get lounge access at HEL?
Yes, since your outbound to LHR is in Business Class. The Schengen Lounge for HEL-TLL is located near gates 23/24 (one level up, access with status), the non Schengen lounge between gates 35 and 36. For directions, please use the HEL terminal map.
There are reports of non-status passengers being granted access to the Schengen Lounge at HEL for the TLL bound flight if shown the J boarding pass from LHR to HEL.

TP/avios earnings?
If your ticket is issued by BA, you will earn full TP and avios (+tier bonus)
If your ticket is issued by AY, you will earn full TP and base avios (no tier bonus).
LHR-HEL will earn 80TP each way, HEL-TLL 20 TP each way.
Please use the calculator on BA.com to determine the exact amount of avios earned.

Is it possible to do a back to back (B2B) at TLL?
Yes. You disembark at the same level as departures are. Simply wait in the gate area until the flight is boarding.

When and where can I check in online?
Use the AY PNR to check in online 36h before your flight in the AY App and get a mobile boarding pass.

What time should I get to TLL airport
Slightly earlier than you'd think.

For those flying AY and want to use the inflight wifi, there has been an enhancement:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/finna...lass-wifi.html

On-board Wi-Fi is available on the new Finnair A350 aircraft and most of our A330 aircraft. Business Class passengers and Finnair Plus Gold members can enjoy complimentary full internet access for one hour. For Finnair Plus Platinum members the service is complimentary for the whole flight.
So only 1h free wifi unless you are OWE.

Thanks. Not sure how the system would know that you are OWE.

My guess is that the FAs have some kind of vouchers?

Me too.

However checking BA and AY PNRs on the myflights app and the BA PNR at ba.com, I see that our seat assignments are different - what I selected on the AY PNR and different on the BA PNR. I'm assuming that AY is 'senior' and that our AY selections will stick. Is that reasonable?

Flying in June btw.

To answer my own question : the front row seats in the Norra ATR72 are released for selection a couple of days before checkin opens.

Actually no, unless you are AY OWE.
It's 1 hour free wifi for all J class passengers and AY Gold (OWS) members and completely free for AY Platinums (OWE). Other airlines OWS and OWE do not have free wifi.

The pricing scheme was silently changed by AY a week ago and their communication has been a bit obscure since they do not explicitly mention non-AY OWS/OWE.
This is probably the first time AY has decided to differentiate onboard benefits of other OWE vs. their own OWE.

Alright I misread that. I assumed OWE = all oneworld Emeralds. I think the notion AY OWE is confusing.

Well I've been on the wifi for over an hour now. It's the usual surname and seat number to log in, so no idea how the system would have any knowledge of one's status?
Maybe it's just for the LH routes and not the LHR-HEL rotations?

I stand totally corrected, I think I must have had some device arbitrage going on there. On the Nordic Sky page it has a countdown, Time Left 40 mins.

We we land in 30 mins so i can't do a live test.

As as you were people.

All sorted - seats selected and showing in MyFlights following a 5 minute web chat with Finnair. ^

A word of warning if back to back

Hello Everyone

I have two Tallinn back to back trips later in the year. Suddenly I am nervous.

In Friday I arrived at Tallinn for a long weekend and there was a bus transfer to get us into the airport emerging at gate 3 in the terminal. At that point the return flight had already closed at gate 5.

If the plane is at a gate I can see a back to back is no problem. If there is a bus you may have a problem.

Does anyone have any guidance on how often buses are used ?

Thanks for any help !
