Flew one yesterday. Upper deck so never saw the extended cabins. Must say the seats themselves were much nicer in comfort (padding and non slipping covers) and cleaner. The shells however looked as tatty as usual.
IFE was much better. I actually watched a film. First time in years on a plane!

Wasn't sure whether to post here or in the CW seating thread, but general request for opinion about main deck on Super High J.
My first flight on one coming up soon (subject to no aircraft change), and my normal CW preference in a 70J 747, if I have to sit on main deck, would be 14K or 14A for a window seat in a smaller cabin with direct aisle access. Is there any reason to change this and move further back on a Super High J?
Of course, if the (currently full) UD becomes available, I'd go up there (dare I play the 64A lottery at T-72..?), but welcome thoughts on main deck. Either way, interested to see the 747 after these changes, might even give the new IFE a go on a flight when I'd normally just sleep...

I was more than happy with 22K to JFK last week on the main deck. Nobody to step over, no kids around, and the rest of the cabin was pretty empty. We had an excellent crew and it was great. Although, I'll be the first to admit I really don't care where I sit, I just want to watch a movie and have a kip if need be. I would definitely prefer this to being in a full upper deck or the forward cabin that everyone else squished themselves into, however.
The only gripe I have with the 'update' is that the most screens in the cabin weren't completely perpendicular to the seat when pulled out - so the screen was off at an angle towards the window. Very annoying but they all seemed to have the same flaw.

My sister was flying DXB-LHR earlier today on BA106.
She was delayed as 'the original aircraft (744s) went tech in London, and another 744s had to be found'...according to the Captain.
Would someone be able to see what happened to BA107 yesterday, in terms of a more precise reason for the delay?
I was surprised BA had a spare 744s sitting around.

Thanks! The trackers are now all done, too.
The really serious geeks may want to know that G-BYGD's conversion accounts for the last 47B internal code. The day marches on when 744s will only have two internal codes - which will probably be at about exactly the time when we will never see them any more (because of FLY).

I asked earlier but didn't get any response... it looks like no chances of 74S being added to more JNB flights within the next 2 weeks?? I've got BA 57 on 29 April, and BA 54 on 6 May. Having the newer IFE would be amazing, but since they are both sleepers, I'll survive if they don't...

I was on last night's Super Hi-J flight to Johannesburg in WT+ and it was really quite pleasant.
In flight entertainment system really good - almost like using an iPad. It was fast, supported multi touch (think navigating around the map) and the picture quality was great. In fact I think it's based on Android tablets because if you tap into the map you can see briefly the Android navigation icons (back / home etc).
Small WT+ cabin was nice and cosy without being claustrophobic and the seat was confortable and the upholstery looked nice and new.
Staff were fantastic as usual. Arrived a few minutes early. The poor CSM looked busy all evening dealing with complaints, but I didn't see anything obvious to complain about!
The only downside is that WT+ is right over the wing so it was a bit noisy.
