1st B744 Super Hi J rolled out
G-CIVF which has been undergoing maintainence in Cardiff since July 31st was rolled out earlier and flew back to LHR this afternoon. This is the first of 18 B744's which are having their interiors 'refreshed' with upgraded inflight entertainment systems and a move to the new Super-Hi J layout of 86 CW seats.
Feedback welcome from anybody who flies her over the next few weeks.

Dreading. Absolutely dreading it.
If Club World main deck was not an unpopular cabin to work in before (which it is by the way), it is going to be every junior crew member working in there on these aircraft.
Dreading seeing that aircraft code on a roster.

Silly question perhaps but would an extra 16 CW passengers not require some increase in crew numbers? If not I suspect you may not be the only one who is less than satisfied...

Actually I'm looking forward to it, I certainly won't be doing the service the way the BA "experts" who have never been crew have designed.
I love a challenge and will do my best to see if I can make it work.

We have gained 2 extra crew for CW on the main deck making it 6 crew, one of the crew has come from the WT cabin where there is less customers an the other crew member is an extra being added making 15 cabin crew.

Well, that sounds quite sensible. If it works for BA and keeps the 747's flying (in a bit better condition) I'm all for it!

So the 'super Hi J' will actually have a better crewassenger ratio to the regular Hi J?

The refit puts two whole rows of CW (16 seats) immediately aft of doors 3, and moves the 30 WT+ seats aft to run back to doors 4. That's where the loss of 40 WT seats comes from.
