A friend flying back on Tuesday night from JFK to Heathrow got upgraded from WTP she texted the lot of us and said that she had had difficulties checking in ( I presume the flight was nearly full) and that she had been put in touch with a friend’s corporate travel agency who had her put her on the VIP list and she was upgraded to CW! She was travelling alone so I presume that’s what got her the upgrade...although she keeps on reinforcing that she is a VIP (she’s BAEC Blue so I question that but each to their own and we all need our little fantasies)

Unless the new Premier card is blue, or your friend is CWS

This time, sitting in The Pier at HKG and refreshed the app, and my CW seat has become a F seat on tonight’s BA32!

WT+ to CW last night in BA106 DXB to LHR. This was the second leg of a LHR-DXB-LHR positioning ticket for a DXB-CKG-DXB TP run on Sri Lankan.
I'd picked a seat a few days ago (from only of a couple of choices), but had only checked in when I arrived at DXB from CMB at the BA transfer desk in DXB T1. I'm sure I heard a 'beep', but the printed BP showed my chosen WT+ seat choice! I'd almost asked if any window seats had become free (on ExpertFlyer all the seats in the cabin were either occupied or blocked), but it didn't seem worth it. Fast forward to the gate. The person there took my BP and scanned it - but she reached behind to a printer and passed me a new BP containing those magic hieroglyphics: 'J 61A' Yes, I was on the 744 UD!. Having looked upthread, I suppose the heavily booked W/Y scenario made an op-up more likely, it hadn't occurred to me! (BTW the BP says 'invol upgrade due over sales W-J).
It would be interesting to know why I was 'chosen'. Officially, I'm Bronze, but the 560TP from the return that I've already taken to Jakarta will take me well past Silver when the TPs are credited.

Some strategic POUGing from Y to W after carefully scrutinising the availability on Expertflyer led fortunately to an op-up W-J on LHR-JFK last week. On the same point, it's always a little surprising to me when POUGs are offered into cabins that look almost full. I guess BA are happy to have a bit more cash in their pocket, regardless of where they end up seating people on board.
Just to add - I tried it again on the return but failed to beat the system on that occasion. But i had the only spare seat next to me free so it was still a good result.

MIA to LHR, moved by CC after take-off from Y exit row seat to UD J.
She thought I was getting crushed by the pax next to me! The pax was a non-status work colleague that I'd TCP'd into the exit row. Makes for a good office yarn.

Got 3 times lucky!
BCN-LHR Sunday 11:45
Myself GCH and the other half a low Brnz managed to check in hand luggage on HBOF. Checkin agent did want to charge €75 each but I told her that I’d received an email from BA informing me that the flight was full(which I knew) and as long as we met BA’s hand luggage requirements we could check in the luggage. The reason we wanted to check in luggage was it was full of Spanish Rioja!
At this point, t-90 we were still in economy. At t-30 we both refreshed the app and I had been moved to 1C, other half still in 13E, but at the gate the other half had been switched to 4C. Once boarded the lady in 4F kindly swapped seats and we both settled down shortly after takeoff with a glass of bubbly!
Not a bad result considering we paid about £39 each for the flight!

Did a day return to Marseille on a cheap HBO fare for my birthday. Both there and back got moved up to CE by CSM after boarding. The return included a candle in my dessert, a song, 3 castelnau on flight and another 3 to takeaway. Oh and it was coincidentally my last day as current Gold (until late April hopefully) . And the captain got us back before the snow came. So all in all very pleased with ba today.

Booked in ET on the 777 for LHR-MAD. WTP seats were blocked until a few days ago, when I moved myself into a nice WTP seat, which has become a CW seat at the airport! (F cabin not in use.)
