Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?

Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Prospero's guide to using ITA matrix in post 3 (here along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or less
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest. AMS and JER easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year)

Or a slightly more interesting fun run

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post (here) MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports)

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VLL via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520

I've booked a tier point run on aa.com which has BA segmetns, should I be able to see them on ba.com? My BAEC number is associated with the booking but the AA booking reference doesn't seem to work.

Any help appreciated.

You can try online, on ba.com to add the AA number in MMB using the TA booking form.

Hello - I am a newbe here. I would be eternally grateful if someone could assist me with my first tier point run. Im looking for (ideally) a 1,000 Tier Point Run (or more) at under £1 a point leaving from LHR and going to North America leaving in the next week for a 5 day trip (it doesn't matter where in the US). Help and input gratefully received

Unfortunately:

1) Never going to happen departing from the UK.
2) TP run fares to the US are almost always restricted by a 28 day advance purchase restriction.

You *might* be able to do something if you fly Y or a redemption booking to the US and then pick up a transcon-US flight or something out to HNL or SJU, but at this short notice it's really unlikely.

Can I start from another UK airport, or is the UK out of the question?

If you don't mind flying from LHR to somewhere other airport to do a back-to-back or "connection" across two different tickets, then it is possible that your requirements could be approached, although probably not satisfied. But there are risks in this process.

The UK is a captive market for BA and business-travel heavy for foreign carriers, so there is little purpose in offering discounts to us.

OK. Im more than happy to change any part of my travel plans - I have a full week to kill and a lot of writing based work that I need to catch up on. I just thought a tier point run would be fun and productive (and if it involved a US/Canada element I could throw in some meetings). Ideally Id be heading from Manchester or Leeds airport, but as they both fly through LHR it seemed daft to add the domestic flight which offers so few TPs.

I'd be hugely grateful for any input. Even if it involves a slightly higher price, maybe up to £1.40 per TP.......

Jim Eddie, thanks for the response, it seems even shifting my dates into the Dublin fare I'm not getting much lower than I can get CPH for over my weekend anyway. The really good Dublin fare finished at the start of June which unfortunately at the time didn't fit with my dates.

Given that people are now offering money for TP advice lol I'll quietly repost my request in the hope that someone has some suggestions...

My specification is as follow:

- Earn 700TPs
- Last weekend in August, departing anytime Thursday 27th onwards, returning by end of Monday to be back in work Tuesday 1st.
- Include a flight I can UUA for my first FIRST.
- No budget as such, just a decent return £/TP
- Longer high TP flights rather than lots of hops and short connections

I reckon I might be able to do the weekend before at a push, the itinerary I've just been playing with (a week earlier to get the DUB fare Jim Eddie suggested and LHR-IAH F) is:

DUB-LHR-IAH-PHX-LAS-CLT-MCO-JFK-LHR-DUB @ £1,264

But alas that doesn't get the TPs as LAS-CLT is just short!!

The Christmas sale last year was from any-UK airport to many destinations (incl Hawaii) for £870 - about 70p/TP.
Who knows, we might see some good sales coming up for premium seats around Christmas again.

OK, its clear I will need to compromise. Can anyone help with the following criteria.

1,000 TP run at £1.40 or lower starting at the end of this week early next week, can start from anywhere :-)

are AMEX 2-4-1's valid for sale fares like this (if theres availability of course?). if so, may be worth me waiting....

i have an amex 2-4-1 and a 10 year anniversary coming up next year, so im obliged to make an effort for the first time in 10 years... A break to asia would be ideal, but can 'settle' for hawaii after being before ;-) it should earn me some brownie points for another few years anyway.

2-4-1s are for Avios redemptions and remove only the points for the second person with the taxes still payable
