exCPH ILN2S4E1 Advanced Purchase Fare

This is one of the long running advanced purchase exCPH fares. It is obviously not as cheap as one of the exDUB sale fares, but it is still a very good price. There are two advanced purchase fares, this one which allows stopovers at €75 each, and the other one ILR21AP which does not allow stopovers. In all other respects these two advanced purchase fares seem to be pretty much the same and have the same base fares.

Stopovers can be done in Europe or the US, so you could have a destination of HNL but stopover in NYC for a few days on the way there. Bear mind the cost of doing a stopover in London on the way out is a lot more expensive since APD is £142, so the total additional cost of adding a stopover in London would be €75 + £142 + any other airport fees.

If you want to stopover in London on the way back it is a lot cheaper since the APD would only be £26 for the LHR-CPH leg. Therefore at fairly minimal additional cost you can stopover in London on the return to go home, and then do the last leg some weeks or months later at your convenience.

The fare does cover travel dates for late 2016. However, if you are looking for late 2016 you need to bear in mind that AA flights are only released at 330 days whilst BA flights are released at 355 days. Therefore at the moment AA flights are only for sale up to mid-November and not available for any of the travel dates for late November onwards. If you try and price anything which would have to include AA flights for end of November it will simply say no flights on itamatrix. Obviously there is no issue pricing a BA metal only itinerary such as CPH-LHR-JFK for late November 2016 and you can do this online at BA.com.

AA flights should be released daily, and by the time we do get to mid-February AA flights will be available until January 2017.

As this is an advanced purchase fare there is no end date or ‘ticket by’ date.

Example prices for Summer 2016, all price with a LHR connection:

JFK - kr.9,141 (~£890)
MIA - kr.11,620 (~£1,132)
ORD - kr. 9,672 (~£942)
LAS - kr.12,482 (~£1,215)
LAX - kr.13,110 (~£1,277)
HNL - kr.13,989 (~£1,361) (priced with LHR, JFK, and PHX connections)

There is also a AY CPH-HEL service which you may be able to add in, so CPH-HEL-LHR/LCY-JFK- etc. CPH-HEL gets 40 TPs and HEL-LHR would get 80 TP. Other alternative routings may be made via MAD.

Travel from inbound transatlantic sector must commence no earlier than the first Sunday after departure of the outbound transatlantic sector.
This allows positioning for your inbound TATL prior to the Sunday. You can therefore set off from HNL on Friday night arriving in PHX on Saturday morning, do PHX-JFK during Saturday, have a night in NYC on Saturday night and then do your TATL on Sunday.

Travel from last stopover must commence no later than midnight 12 months after departure from fare origin.
Unlimited stopovers permitted on the outbound and on the inbound fare components at EUR 75.00 each.
2 transfers allowed per region in each direction, so 2 in Europe and 2 in the US each way.
An overnight connection of up to 24 hrs between flights would be counted as a transfer, anything beyond that would be a stopover.

To HNL the optimal routing is something like CPH-HEL-LHR-XXX-LAX/PHX-HNL and return which gets you 1360 TPs. If you leave HEL out coming back then reduce by 80 TPs, and if you leave HEL out both out and back reduce to 1200 TPs. XXX can be any east coast city provided that you don't do JFK-LAX where you can only get 140 TPs, and XXX-LAX/PHX is on a two class > 2,000 mile flight.

If you look at post 1 of this thread or this post there is a list of >2,000 mile flights.

AA vs BA flight numbers for TPs & avios:
- For two class domestic flights in the US you need to book under the AA flight number to get the domestic first TP (210/60). Booking under the BA codeshare will only get you business TPs (140/40) even though you will be in the same seats.
- For three class transcons (A321T) on the JFK-LAX and JFK-SFO routes it doesn't matter since you book in to the middle business cabin anyway, not the first cabin.
- For international flights it doesn't matter, it is 140/40 TPs whatever flight number you book under so AA or oneworld codeshare.
- Avios will always be more under a BA flight number, but not much. Avios under an AA flight is 125% miles flown, and under a BA codeshare is 150% of miles flown. Tier avios bonuses are the same under AA or BA.
