I agree that fawning of celebrities is poor from BA (but what do you expect from London's worst airline?), baring any security issues (I imagine one-direction or whoever the in-crowd are now could attract a large crowd) there's no reason to have any special treatment, however if there's one industry where "real money" is not made it's the Hedge Fund/Gambling industry. At least the gambling part provides some entertainment for people.

Producing stuff (food, houses, computers), doing stuff stuff (hairdressing, doctoring, entertainment), advancing human knowledge (landing a fridge on a comet), all worthwhile endeavours that produce value. Moving numbers from one column to another is an unfortunate byproduct of our economy, which is a system that aims to ensure the maximum worth is extracted from people.

Oops! That might have made entertaining viewing if she had been there!

My BA spend was 30k (personal leisure) last year. I fly family and friends to places.

But most of my flying is done out of BQH.

And you?
Q. Is it possible to spend 30K on personal leisure with BA in a year and be a Silver?

(Thinking about it, maybe if mostly on hotels?)

So then how are people permitted to reinvest the money that they have already earned? Is that not allowed to be an industry?

All of these "Producing stuff", "doing stuff stuff", "advancing human knowledge", "all worthwhile endeavours" that "produce value" are or can be financed by the "moving numbers" industries you deride.

I'm just amazed anyone with such 'important' jobs can afford to waste so much time during the working week on an FT thread about celebs!

But the last few pages have been about the far more worthwhile topic of who has the more important job

I think the issue of importance was implied by the hedge fund chaps who appear 'put out' by the special treatment afforded to a British Oscar recipient.

I did realise that would be a valid point which is why I explained the spend includes flying family and friends (real friends - not internet friends or lounge "guests"). You don't get TPs for that

I decided to answer a rude question with the truth - if people think that's willy waving I apologise. The person asking it expected a climbdown and did not reciprocate.

Anyway - enough OT posts...........let's get back to "Tax Dodgers on BA"

When BA escorts celebs and they know that the photographers are going to be there, do they have special staff for that because BA might appear in the papers?

I recall the chap in T4 who used to escort famous folks.
