Yes, all this confirms my findings - shiny new terminal, same old experience. The only positive change I saw was dual airbridges being used for both arrivals and departures.
From a process and procedure perspective, nothing has changed for the better. Just glad I didn't have bags to check. I didn't bother with the lounge, as we arrived at T-70 for the 198 (departures area like a ghost town, as usual, that close to departure), and by the time we'd cleared security and immigration, and strolled to the gate, they'd started priority boarding - which was like a scrum, and secondary X-ray screening of hand baggage at the gate didn't help. Still, flights ex-BOM appear to be very busy for BA - what price we'll see an A380 there, now that the Indian government have approved operations?

From my recent departure from the new BOM Terminal 2:
1. Signage is poor and it is quite difficult to find your way around, both landside and airside.
2. Check-in at the premium BA counter was poor - didn't offer lounge card, though luckily I knew from here to ask for it. Didn't offer immigration form either, but I knew from my frequent visits to India to ask for one. They didn't offer the cabin bag tag either, though this is essential at BOM.
3. Mosquitos are a problem - I recommend Jungle Formula DEET but remember to spray and stow before checking in your luggage.
4. Security and immigration are now the other way round compared with old BOM. You clear security first and then go through immigration.
5. Immigration was pretty much as for the old terminal (and took about 20 minutes for me).
6. The (temporary) lounge access card has a diagram showing how to find it. Go down to level 3 by lift after walking through the duty free.
7. The temporary lounge is vast and a bit impersonal, but the waiting staff are very good and know about the drinks on offer.
8. Wifi was not operating - a major problem for me. Nor were the few computers.
9. Flights are not called and I was warned when entering the lounge that a 15 minute walk would be required to reach the gate. Because the lounge is so vast, and there are not many screens, you need to be careful to keep monitoring.
10. [Off Topic] Upgraded at the gate (BOM-LHR must be one of the greatest routes for this) and had a great flight with a wonderful crew.

Flew back from BOM yesterday in CW on the BA198 which is the 13.50 departure.
Greeted at the kerbside by BA agents and escorted to the First/Business checkin where we had a comfy seat while they did all the formalities. We were presented with our lounge passes without us needing to ask for them. We were also offered upgrades to First for the "special" price of Ł330 each.
We found the signage from there to Security to be pretty good and the airport was very quiet. From check in to duty free shops was no more than 10 minutes.
Temporary lounge does feel a bit like sitting in a corridor, but we were served our drinks and the wifi was working, and it's free. Didn't try the food.
No announcements but they did advise us of this when we entered.
In fact the only frustrating part of the whole process was getting on the plane, which was exacerbated by a hold up just before the bridge. I suspect that some sort of VIP was being boarded first but what made it annoying for me was that the people doing the random security screening of bags just kept on chucking the bags through even though the bags were already backing up, and advising people to pass through even though there was nowhere for them to go.
But all in all, remarkably smooth and efficient.

It's quite a bit of a risk. I've done it before using the old terminal, just about. However, arrived on the 199 last week and took 90+ mins to clear immigration and collect bags (latter in particular takes ages as all bags are individually screened apparently before being thrown out). We were on domestic connection (about 1.5 hours after arrival due to delay departing LHR) which we missed by quite a bit. Having had to go through the hassle (and cost) of rebooking flight, I would try and get a later connection.

Having a transit visa smooths out the process somewhat, as there is no need to rely on an airport representative. Unfortunately I can't help you with timescales, as I have only done TWOV.

BOM Terminal 2
I travelled through T2 last night (27Mar) - BA138. Fast track security empty except for lots of staff swatting mosquitoes with racquet zappers. Joint First/Business lounge was busy at the "food" end but plenty of seating further up by the bar. Wifi worked well. Sockets near to the PC workstations were working but couldn't get the ones in the pillars to work. Staff efficient. Not as "homely" as a dedicated BA lounge though Biggest issue was the mosquitoes - they were everywhere. I was constantly applying repellent whilst in the lounge but have arrived home covered in bites. This was never an issue for me in the old terminal.
Apart from the insects, the terminal is impressive. Immigration on landing only took 5 mins (fast track) but even the normal lines looked okay.

I was on the daytime flight on the 26th and will agree with you regarding the mozzies. After reading the forum I had kept the deet handy and had been religiously taking B1 vitamin for the last month. Still got bitten but they don't seem to like the taste of the blood they get so the bites never come to anything. However, if that was what they were like at midday I wouldn't like to see it at night.
I mentioned to one of the numerous attendants about the mozzies and did notice a maintenance guy spraying the pot plants with what looked like insecticide so hopefully they'll get it under control soon.
Apart from that the shared lounge is fine if a bit souless. Plenty food offerings, sparkling Indian Chandon wine was a bit sweet but went well with the spicy food.

Like everywhere else in India the self service buffet isn't really understood with waiters always willing to get you more food or top up a glass, which I appreciated.
Finally a wee word of warning. The inter terminal transfer doesn't start for domestic to international until 09:30. There is no baggage transfer (for BA passengers anyway) so you load them on the bus. Check-in for the day time return opens about three and a half hours before. If you were doing and AI or Jet transfer maybe they would.
