I'm finding some great ex-EU fares on US to America during Christmas time. Just booked a BRU-PHL-PHX-IAH-CLT-PHL-BRU flight during the Christmas season (turning this into a semi-TP run) in Y class for £500 yeilding 270TPs (plus 20 TPs for the BA positioning flights). Very good value for TPs at £1.85 (especially as we see so very few Y class TP runs

Some interesting HBO fares LGW-RAK from mid-November - £49 o/w or £104 return. So £2.45 or £2.60 per TP which may get averaged down if there's a POUG offer (couldn't see any price listed on the POUG thread wiki).
Too late for me to book an insurance trip at the end of my membership year, sadly (I may be just short of 3500 and 2 x GUF1s will be valuable!)

I just tried on matrix and it's possible.
you need to input "lcy ba1-4" into the 2nd line (routing codes). Doesn't throw up any results for Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays (I did a 1 month search for September) and I am not suggesting that the £8k fare matrix throws up is worthy of mention in the Tier Point run thread but it's possible so I presume if you construct it with the right fares (if any decent fares can be combined for that route), it should work.
It looks like (only had a brief glance at the results which throw up all sorts of code-share combos) the PMI - LCY flight time means you can connect on BA3 on the same day or could try for BA1 next day.
Fridays and weekend might be different.

Hi
Just wondering if someone could critique my observations
Out in November I have trip to Denver (flights already organised) then I have window of opportunity for 3-4 days before I need to be in Chicago. Looking for a good value run from denver to anywhere and then ending up in Chicago. To earn a 400-500 tier points.
Previously I have managed a fairly eventful, LAS-LAX-JFK-MCO-MIA-SJU-MIA-MCO-JFK-LAS, but it seems AA from reviewing the matrix really tightened up the the number of connections that are possible? is this the case?
I have looked at the Caribbean but nothing really jumps out at me.
So I am leaning towards something like DEN-ORD-BOS-JFK, which was circa $450 USD.
So my thinking was a return for $900 and then just a straight fare from den-ord? should get me pretty close
Anyone have any ideas how I could increase the haul for a similar amount of dollars?

Just wondering if someone could critique my observations
Out in November I have trip to Denver (flights already organised) then I have window of opportunity for 3-4 days before I need to be in Chicago. Looking for a good value run from denver to anywhere and then ending up in Chicago. To earn a 400-500 tier points.
Previously I have managed a fairly eventful, LAS-LAX-JFK-MCO-MIA-SJU-MIA-MCO-JFK-LAS, but it seems AA from reviewing the matrix really tightened up the the number of connections that are possible? is this the case?
I have looked at the Caribbean but nothing really jumps out at me.
So I am leaning towards something like DEN-ORD-BOS-JFK, which was circa $450 USD.
So my thinking was a return for $900 and then just a straight fare from den-ord? should get me pretty close
Anyone have any ideas how I could increase the haul for a similar amount of dollars?

I'm finding some great ex-EU fares on US to America during Christmas time. Just booked a BRU-PHL-PHX-IAH-CLT-PHL-BRU flight during the Christmas season (turning this into a semi-TP run) in Y class for £500 yeilding 270TPs (plus 20 TPs for the BA positioning flights). Very good value for TPs at £1.85 (especially as we see so very few Y class TP runs ).
).flying BRU-PHL the plane went tech and was substituted with a 757
on the other had I had a 35 min connection in CLT, delays brought it down to 25 and I still managed to change terminals and get to the flight

I have a questions I was hoping someone might be able to answer. I'm sorry if its already mentioned some where else, but I haven't been able to find an answer.
I found the following tier run listed by Phil the Flyer GBP1.67/TP | GBP667 | 400TPs | CAI-DOH-BKK-DOH-CAI Qatar Airways
I managed to get a price of around 8500 EGP(700 GBP) via Matrix. However when I want to book the exact same itinerary via Qatar Airways the priced is double the amount! Do I need to go though a travel agent or is it just the Matrix that is not updated?

Have you checked the terms and conditions for the fare you found in Matrix? That may give you some clues as to how it may be booked.
I saved a fortune on my Easter Island tickets by booking on the Chilean version of the LAN Chile site as they had some great fares but the terms said they had to be ticketed from Chile.

Upgrading BA Segments on Ticket Booked on AA.com
If I book the BRU-LHR-BOS-LAX-HNL-LAX-BOS-LHR-BRU run on aa.com, can I upgrade the BA I segments using Avios? Do I have to call that in?
