Just getting into this game...

I'm travelling to LAS in June and looking to maximise TPs from this trip. I have to be there from 4th to 9th Jun. Found the following (I know its not the best £/TP, but seems straightforward and cant find better prices):

BRU-LHR (J) -BA
LHR-LAX (I) -BA
LAX-LAS (A) -AA

LAS-LHR (T) -BA

Comes in £1278....any thoughts? Is this decent? Any better routings to maximise TPs?(don't mind spending more if so..)

Hi, I have never posted on a board before, however this is what I just booked this AM for £0.72/TP, unless I made a mistake in my calculations (used owenrudge).

I think it's 740TP for what I paid, 516GBP.

LAS-LAX a
LAX-MCO a
MCO-MIA a
MIA-SJU i
SJU-MIA i
MIA-MCO a
MCO-LAX a
LAX-LAS a

It's only an extra £240 to do the whole thing in J/F. Isn't it worth it for that?

Same as what I'm doing in 2 weeks except SJU-LAS-SJU.

Only thing about this is the 4 hour layover at MCO. Could have at least been MIA as they have a lounge

Really? I couldn't get this to work - I'm quite new at using ita matrix so forgive my inexperience..

Let me give it another go...will report back how I get on!

Any tips on more lucrative routings?

BRU-MAD-LHR-JFK-LAS and back is 860 TPs.
Edit, looks like you can go on the LCY-SNN-JFK flights too, which nets an extra 140 TPs. So a straight 1000 TPs for £1636 I think. Not sure how the timings work out.

Nice - thank you thank you thank you!!

Comes in at £1627 (all in J/F using IB,AA and BA)...much more lucrative at £1.89/TP

£1.63/TP if you use the LCY-JFK flights.

This is all on ITA. I was able to reproduce this fare on aa.com using the multicity booking option:

27/02 BRU - JFK
27/02 JFK - LAX
28/02 LAX - HNL
02/03 HNL - LAX
03/03 LAX - JFK
04/03 JFK - BRU

What's most interesting is that on some of the itineraries (like the one below), the JFK-LAX leg is flown on QF metal. I had no idea that QF did revenue flights within the US.

One thing I'm also not sure about is why the fare on aa.com is £2.50 less than on ITA.

Can't find the same price on this but happy with the LHR..

If I did BRU-MAD-LHR-JFK-LAS-JFK-MAD-LHR-BRU would I be able to skip the last flight and still get the avios and TPs?

If you don't take the flight, you don't get the miles or TPs. If your connection is tight at LHR (under 3 hours), you may problems convincing them to only check your bag to LHR instead of all the way to BRU.

Best bet is to book a long LHR connection (10hrs+), and tell them you're meeting someone landside who will take your bag home, before you continue to BRU with hand baggage.

Yea that makes sense, but I'd still get the miles and TPs for the bits of the itinerary flown right?

Good point...could also just go to BRU, will obvs get a few more TPs getting back to LON anyway..

Depends how many you need. You can book a LON-BRU return for under £100 in Y, so if you need those extra 10+40+10 TPs, it's worth going to BRU.

You'll get the TPs for all the legs you actually fly. Obviously don't ever drop any legs other than your last one, though, or the remainder of your ticket is void.
