Mount Cook might be said by some not to be the prettiest of mountains, but it is imposing. That's what keeps me coming back. Last time I camped in a site along the Tasman river, but as I would miss the light along the road to Mount Cook, I decided to head to Queenstown in order to try and get to Milford Sound tomorrow as the forecast is good. That's a 4 hour drive from here...I did a 9 hour drive from Christchurch today having only landed from Sydney at 2am...hoped to have an early start, but I wouldn't have had these from this angle had I left at 8 or 9am...

A Rainbow and it's 'reflection' in Milford Sound. I had bought an umbrella out of superstition, telling the lady in the petrol station that if I had an umbrella it wouldn't rain. She wished me luck with that, but I got away with it and the umbrella is still in its cellophane wrapper. (This superstition comes down to when you leave without an umbrella it rains and the moment you buy one, it stops).Drove down to Milford Sound again, and as usual stopped along the Milford Road - believe me, it's enchanting enough to make you miss a boat in the sound.
This I did, but that was a lucky accident, as that meant that the boat I got on had myself, the crew and 5 others on it, so total freedom around the boat. As we returned to the port area, the rain ahead of us hit bright late afternoon sunshine. My only regret was that I didn't put my 12 - 24 in my bag to take on board

Looks like your flight wasn't delayed - I flew back from VIE the previous evening, and we had a 45 minute delay - (haven't looked at my images yet) having spent a few days in Bratislava - lovely city and beer from €1.49 a pint...^

no indeed, we came in with no circling or delays at all! Was very surprised. Arrived 25 minutes early and ended up having to wait for a free gate! Must have been following each other...I was also in Slovakia, north of you in Smolenice. Euro 1.10 for the beer there!

I finally got home yesterday for the first time since April 17th. This meant two things: I got a very good welcome from the puppies and I had a lot of work getting my images into my iMac Lightoom Catalogue. About 3500 images. I will also have to back up a 5TB portable hard drive as it has a wonky connection on the USB port and keeps disconnecting without being ejected which has put it at risk of getting corrupted. I stopped adding images to it as new images weren't showing up in Lightroom so I am going to have to copy the whole drive within Lightroom.
Have been going through a few images from NZ...
