An “official POUG” is defined (for the purposes of this wiki) as the rate that appears in red on the MMB/BA app. It is NOT the rate offered at the airport (please see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ng-thread.html), or the rate offered when you click on the “Upgrade my class of travel with money” link from within MMB, or the “Upgrade to the next available cabin” blue/grey banner in the app.
  • All POUGs earn full TPs and Avios for the upgraded cabin, subject to the original booking being paid for with cash.
  • POUGs *ARE* offered on Hand-Baggage Only fares, if available
  • POUGs only become available after 48 hours of making your booking, until any time up to, and including OLCI. After being checked in you will not be offered a POUG.
  • POUGs do not seem to become available for travel agent bookings, until 2-3 days before departure (YMMV)
  • POUGs cannot be requested from Service Centres, except that occasionally BA.com will not proceed with a POUG online and display a message inviting you to call the Service Centre to complete the transaction.
  • After a POUG has been purchased, the ticket become non changeable and non refundable, apart from government taxes.

Please add to this list as required, and include the month/year when the POUG is offered to you.

LHR-ICN-LHR

13 Dec LHR-ICN WT (m) to WTP
22 Dec ICN-LHR WT (S) to WTP
Combined price for two upgrades in MMB was £270
For me as a low class WT frequent flyer extra 110TP's is reason to buy.
I did note that the ICN - LHR flight was close to sold out in WT and WTP, suspected that doing this would increase OPUP chance to CW, suspicions were correct , thank you BA for nice Xmas pressie.

Been offered £95 e/w to upgrade my April flights of LHR-DUB / DUB-LHR.
Offer at time of booking was £187 so this is £3 more.

So you can often (not always) work out the POUG price now: Take the cheapest CE return from the CE website, divide it by half, remove the cost of the cheapest HBO and that's the POUG price.
Well, I hope it's exactly this logic. In which case I'm waiting for the offer to appear where they pay me to upgrade.

On my return flight it's currently showing (as one-way or part of a return) that HBO Y is €534 and CE is €463

So, I'd be happy for them to pay me the difference to upgrade

In all seriousness. Looking at the flight availability (a fair few CE seats left, very few Y) I'm hoping for a reasonable offer to appear soon...

I think LHR-ICN WT to WTP for £270 rtn is a way better POUG value than LHR-DUB rtn from ET to CE for £190.
I'd also argue that WTP is way better than new CE

Just had an offer of £190 for LCA-LHR in the New Year. I'm already in CE on the way out on Boxing Day. Not tempted at the moment but may find myself booking it tomorrow after a few glasses of vino.

Not a chance at these prices!
Same with me: before GBP99 for LHR-VIE or VIE-LHR, now showing GBP130
Absolutly no meaning to upgrade, Exit row Y is the way to travel SH !!
If no decent Y seats available, BA looses my business for that flight(s)

By the way, I have sent a letter of complaint, more a letter of constructive critics in Oct to Customer Relations about the enhancements of Club Europe.
It took them until 23rd of Dec to answer!
Conclusio of their E-Mail: Customers only wish to have the middle seat empty, "more personal space", "with new seats you don`t feel the difference of reduced seat pitch".Maybe correct in row 1 !!!!

kind regards,

Wow, LHR - OTP (early January) - £185 each way.

That's gone from £79, to £129 and now £185 in the last year, all at a 'special' price!

Curious result from our recent LCY-ZRH UG. (We wouldn't normally do this on such a short E190 route but the prospect of imminent Gold for both of us helped decide.)

Outbound, Mrs Roger and I were the only CE passengers and needless to say the service was great. ET was nowhere near full, and I was wondering about the economics of the deal.

Then OLCI-ing for the inbound, no seats had been reserved other than ours - a (potentially) empty cabin from which to select 2CD. We'll see later whether anybody will join us.

FWIW we are on separate PNRs - mine originally an HBO.

Just a quick question - when you request an upgrade price (rather than the POUG), BA takes you to a screen, where, without knowing the price, you select

"I do not wish to upgrade this flight"

and

"I wish to upgrade this flight to Club Europe (prices will be displayed on next page)"

This additional screen appears to be unncessary, as you have already selected "I wish to upgrade with Miles" (or Avios as case may be).

It seems an odd little holding screen. Any idea why?
And yes, patiently waiting for a POUG to be offered ;-)
On a Monday, last flight from CPH it's probably unlikely, esp as on a o/w handbaggage ticket!
My friend is flying r/t from LHR and has upgraded already.

I think it's because when you click on the link for just one flight, it will bring up all flights in the booking and ask whether you want to upgrade all of them, or just one (or more).

As per a previous post by me. I had a fair few last year at £64 a pop.

I had the same flight start at £129 and end at £185.. It seems to have settled at £185 even on the day before departure (OTP-LHR tomorrow).

It seems to be the new standard price for this route.

£170 for LHR-FCO for a mid-week booking in March 2015...seems a bit steep
