28/10 SYD 0930 ICN arr 1810 dep 1330+1 LHR 1730+1, MAN connections depart 1900 or 2050
8/11 LHR 2100 ICN arr 1550+1 dep 2020+1 SYD 0830+2
maybe not your top choice due to overnight stop in ICN on the outbound, but it's a J seat, on your preferred travel dates, and something to get you started.

)I got SYD-SIN-FRA-MAN with a bit of a long stop in SIN
and LHR-FRA-SIN-SYD with lovely timings on the way back.
all LH & SQ J
Seriously they need to get some agents in the ICC that know how to use the ANA tool!

All - many, many thanks for the insightful and quick replies - particularly allanhuk - big help to a newbie!
I had a thought of how to reduce my wait time in SIN on the outbound - I have enough BA and QF points to get a reward seat through either scheme, SYD-SIN (and both seem to have J available at present). The flight would be 16:35-21:45, getting me to SIN in time to connect with a MAN-direct flight on either 27 or 29.
The only downside I can see here is that I won't be able to through-check my baggage. But, points wise, I dont' think I'll be any worse off for not doing the full round trip through DC - is this correct?
Thanks again.

Hi there
Sorry - one other question - am thinking there will be a difference between the SQ business class on SIN-MAN flights, versus SIN-LHR flights. If so such a big deal that it's worth going out of your way to fy on the LHR route, or is J on SIN-MAN (and SIN-FRA for that matter) more than acceptable?
Note - have never flown business before!
Cheers

I wouldn't advice to do that. Firstly it will cost you a lot more (combined BD & BA/QF) miles. Secondly, more important, is that if for some reason your arrival in SIN is delayed, and you miss your SIN-MAN flight, there is no obligation of the airline to get you onto another flight from SIN to MAN.
