I have successful changed a day before the flight out to another flight two days later. Different flight numbers and airports for the first segment.

Consider yourself lucky. Yes it can be done if you find a willing agent / supervisor, but more often than not they will flat out refuse.

Heck I was refused making a booking 6 days out and referred to the 7-day rule while none of the agents even considered that I may have BD Gold and can book up to 3-days prior to flight. even after I mentioned the 3-day rule to them 2 agents insisted that such a rule does not exist.

Hi.

I am looking to book two award tickets (two adults and one infant in lap) in business class from OSL-JNB via either FRA-LHR-ZRH or MUC using Diamond Club miles. I have not yet bought the miles required as I have some questions. On ANA I see there is availability on SK809 OSL-LHR and on SA237 LHR-JNB (which I would very much like to get on!) but is the ANA website up to date? Where should I call to make the booking? I have been told to call BMI in India, but I`d rather not as I live in Norway and that would cost me dearly. Can`t I just call their offices in the UK?

And when should I buy the miles? I don`t want to be stuck with 19000 miles if all of a sudden all awards seats are taken..

Any help would be appreciated!

You call the number shown on the back of your diamond club card. There is an 'outside UK' number for overseas callers, which is a UK number starting with +44. You don't need to call India.

Ohh dear. where do I start other than referring you to the 'Sticky Thread' in the BMI forum? All is explained there. But either way, to alleviate your fears of high calling costs I can tell you that you call the Diamond Club UK number at UK working times and that the person answering the phone will be sitting in a call center in India.

The only way to find out if ANA is right is to call them up and request them to check seat availability for reward booking on a sector by sector basis. If they confirm go and buy those miles and pray the seats will still be there when you want to book them. I'm not aware that you can make a reservation first and hold it and then get the miles into your account later. IIRC the miles need to be there for a booking.

I've searched on ANA for the obvious route via SIN, but it seems that SIN-MLE is just not available - in fact it looks like SIN-MLE is not available any time until the end of the year! So either the ANA tool is missing something or I need some other route. Happy to stop over a night or two in interesting places on the way, as long as we get to MLE for the four or five nights. Am talking explicitly about a diamond club cash+miles booking in business, so no suggestions that I magic up some BA miles and use those please ;-). I would be overjoyed to hear your suggestions!

Cheers,

-simon
Try looking for 1 seat. If it's there, book it and see if the system immediately releases another seat.

Often that has been the only way to get more than seat on the same flight
Thanks tiger_lily. I can't seem to find anything suitable to the Maldives via SIN, even looking just for one ticket. Does anyone else have other suggestions for possible routings, or could someone with e.g. KVS access make a search?

Many thanks,

-simon

Hi All,
Firstly
FRA-PNQ 11 Nov for two pax
PNQ-FRA 30 Nov for two pax

Secondly, more a route check question. I am trying to get to Pune from Melbourne. The most direct route I can find is MEL-BKK-FRA-PNQ as LH are the only carrier into PNQ.

Does this mean I will be charged at the Indian number of miles or Europe number of miles from Australia? Does this change if I take a stopover?

I imagine that that would be charged as two separate itineraries MEL-FRA and FRA-PNQ. Mumbai is not so very far away - I'd imagine that that is your best choice for the sake of value.

Does ANA show different availability for LX than expertflyer? Trying to find JNB-LHR on 9/3 or 9/4 but nothing coming up for 3 people in J.

Yes. EF shows the full M&M availability, and it's completely different to what you see on ANA

Also, in the OP's case, there is no award availability either way:

UA booking class for DC redemption in Business

Does anybody of you know which UA booking class(es) is/are relevant for a DC redemption in Business class? And are all seats in this/these booking class(es) available for DC members?

Thank you very much.
