Did you ask about the new Avis policy of paying a fee for satellite radio? Would you have been willing to pay for it if you knew that you could have had it for a fee?

I keep on asking at SYR where the new radios are. They keep on saying they get random one's back on one-way rentals, but they have not been given an allotment to start renting to customers. I just dont get this. Why start a program, pull the plug on the existing (free) Satellite, but not have units to rent out. Seems silly to me.
Oh well, Pandora on my blackberry with the aux jack feeds my hunger.

Received a Saturn Outlook for 10 days rental
The agent saw us with 3 small kids so he tried to find a car that can fit all of us in. We got to the parking lot and found the car and we are shocked (the biggest car we have driven was a Volvo V70)

Booked a peugeot 308 but got a Opel Astra SW.
Again the agent saw us with tons of bags and she said, 'I'll give you an Astra so it has a bigger trunk for your bags'.
The car was big by groupC standard in France but it was full of marks and dents and it was even tanked half tank without telling us. We got it adjusted but still got a bill for 11.13 euros for fuel. (Maybe it's a fee for a bigger car)

Received: Cadillac SRX (they reserved a Chrysler 300 for me, but I asked for and received the SRX at the counter with no hesitation from rental agent)
Note - SRX had 5,123 miles at pick up, and still had factory installed and working XM Satellite Radio.

Just a few more data points for this: I've had about 6 Caddi's in the past few weeks (STS, CTS, CTS wagon, CTS coupe, SRX and SRX4) all with < 8k on the clock. All had working XM, which was quite nice.

Not technically an upgrade, but this one did have full leather, active Sirius, and the uConnect Bluetooth phone. Much better equipped than the 300s I'm used to getting.

If not, Avis considers the 300 as "Specialty" which is an upgrade from premium... at least according to Avis. I'm not in agreement with them, but it's not the first that Avis and I disagree on policies/procedures/car categories/etc.

I'm not in agreement with them, but it's not the first that Avis and I disagree on policies/procedures/car categories/etc.When I was at YYZ T1 yesterday I noticed several 300C's in the Avis Preferred stalls in the lot, these would have the Hemi and classified as Luxury. When I rented my 300 Limited last week, I didn't see anything that I would've thought categorized as a Luxury car, as I was curious as to what I could've gotten. When I booked Luxury wasn't that much more than Premium, so maybe I'll try for a Luxury next time.
