Just found this thread. I don't remember a lot of my recent rentals, but here's a few "memorable" ones. Overall Chairman has been very hit and miss with me. They seem very nice when I come through, but often give little or no upgrade at some locations.

Location: ICT
Status: CHM
Reserved: Intermediate
Received: Saturn Vue. I requested Cadillac if available, but apparently their only one was kept out over 30 days, and is now reported stolen.

Location: JFK
Status: CHM
Reserved: Intermediate
Offered: CTS or DTS with broken XM
Received: CTS or DTS with working XM (sorry to the president's club that they swapped with)

Location: LAX
Status: CHM
Reserved: Intermediate
Received: Malibu/Impala?

Location: LAS
Status: CHM
Reserved: Intermediate
Received: Impala

I was very surprised at the lack of service at LAX. The first time when I tried to tell the driver I was Chairman, he didn't want to hear anyone's status and just said he would bring us to the preferred area. When I arrived I couldn't find my car, so I had to wait 30+ minutes (asking several people where Chairman pickup was while I waited in line), and then had some basic intermediate car waiting. I requested something with XM and after another 20 minutes they came around with in impala or malibu or something similar with XM, but an otherwise disappointing car. No Cadillac or other nice car available.
Second trip I told driver I was Chairman, and asked right away about something with XM. He called ahead, and when I got there they again had something intermediate waiting. Both times it was quite late so I didn't argue, but I did ask and was told that was the best they had available.
I have gotten so much better service at smaller locations like BDL, GEG, etc than at LAX. It's hard to believe LAX had no high end cars available.

Similarly, LAS was very disappointing. Had to drive business associates around, and had some mediocre mid-sized car. The Buick they tried to give me was old, and had no XM. They seemed very apologetic, but said they had nothing better than what I reserved.

Anyone have luck with a Camaro yet? I just saw my first one, but couldn't talk them into it. Looked mean, and would have been an interesting one to try. Will try calling ahead to a few other reservations and see if anyone will budge.

They won't give it even to Chairmen.

So I discovered, since I am Chairman. I am sure some people have managed to talk them into it though. Maybe a short reservation when they don't expect to rent it otherwise.

A few experiences with this:
1. For a 4 day rental at PVD, I called the CC desk & they put a note on my profile asking for a Camaro. When I got there, they had one waiting for me.
2. At RDU, I asked for one but the manager said he couldn't because it was a week-long rental and he couldn't give it up that long.
3. 10 days later at RDU, I asked if they had any other upgrades instead of a CTS and the guy said, "How about the Camaro? It's a great car that I'm sure you'll enjoy" for an 8-day reservation!
4. At IAH, they wouldn't upgrade me from a Luxury to the Camaro for a 16-hr rental. They also wouldn't upgrade me to an Infiniti...

The Sonata only had 150 miles on it plus XM. I'm really getting spoiled with the XM rentals lately, but enjoying it!

ILM is a weird avis franchise. They dont follow the standard pitch at the counter. Wanted two local phone numbers of where i was staying, plus the name of my hotel, plus the name of my business (even though it was a personal rental), plus the wrote on the contract in pen, "NO PHYSICAL DAMAGE" and made me initial that too.... and my grandmother's middle name (jk). Also required me to sign & initial all of the waiver declinations, despite everything in my preferred profile declining.

No preferred counter, not even a preferred cutout, so I had to stand in line behind two 60-year old ladies going on a beach vacation, who asked questions for 20-minutes. They got upgraded from INT to Full because there were no INT left. They werent preferred or avis first at all.

I walk up to counter, and I get an INT. I ask for an upgrade, and he says i booked an INT right? Ironic that they had an INT for me (preferred/avis first) and yet the white hair ladies in front of me got larger...

Grrrrrr

However, relatively new car (2500 kms on the odometer, about 2000 miles) gas consumption was 20% higher than government standard, think the tank was not full when I took the car out.
