Received: Town Car
Normally I would not want a Town Car and would ask for something else; however, I was arriving in town for my Grandmother's funeral and had many people to pick up and drive around.
another note, this is the 2nd time I've been to FLL this year and both times my name was not on the Preferred board and I had to wait in the Preferred line (about 6 people deep both times). Once I made it to the front of the line I inquired about my car and was immediately escorted to the car which was right up front, but it takes away the perk of not having to wait in line. FLL is the only station I have had this issue.

I had this at CMH once, and a grey DTS was in the first spot (my profile specifically asks for a DTS). There were several people in the preferred line at the booth in the garage, so I loaded my stuff into the car, started it, checked out my usuals (lights, signals, tires, inspection, etc), got the mirrors perfected and by this time an employee came out of the booth to inquire what I was doing. I stated that I assumed this was my car & I needed my paperwork (very nicely). She immediately said, "Oh, that's not your car" before even knowing my name. I gave her my name and she was huffy and went to look me up in the computer. Rudely, she said to the other employee, "Do you have a reservation for Mr. IAH?" The other lady said, "Yup, right here is everything he needs and his car is right there (as she pointed to my DTS). You were supposed to meet him inside, remember?". The first lady came out and was very apologetic

Received: Avalon XL (only 300 miles on it!)
Buick Lucerne was in my assigned spot so asked what else was available. Was originally told an Escape and Forester but wasn't too enthused. Then the Avalon came up and grabbed it.

Received: Sebring Convertible, 27k... (Too bad the convertible part was broken!)

Received: 2009 Pontiac G6 with 1100 Miles on it. OK, technically not an upgrade, but actually was quite nice, still with "new car" smell, and XM, which is always appreciated.

I've had several Sebrings malfunction... I guess they weren't meant to withstand the harsh life of a rental car.
Also, while that "new car smell" is pleasing to some of you, it's something that I hate... it's comprised of benzene, akanes, ketones, aldehydes and other toxic volatile organic compounds (Wiki: New Car Smell). Lots of fun stuff in there that we probably shouldn't be breathing.

Received: In our space was a Chrysler Sebring convertible (10,000 miles), which is our standard request for MCO.
Requested and Received: VW Beetle convertible
When we got to the Sebring in our space, my husband saw the VW Beetle convertible sitting right beside it and has always wanted to try one. So I went back to the counter and asked if it was available. She said yes, and in a rather surprised voice, said "do you want to change for that?"
It has 20,000+ miles but he's having a blast. It's red, perfect color for it, with a black convertible roof, 2.5 liter engine, black leather interior. It actually has a quite spacious feel in the front seats (I would not want to climb in the back, but it's just the two of us).
Surprisingly, we could actually fit both our rollaboard carry-ons in the trunk which we cannot do in the Sebring if we want to put the top down.

Rented INT
Got INT Misubishi Galant that was only rented 1-2 other times, still had that new car toxic fume smell that I love
It wasn't an upgrade for the first time for me, but it is a new car and other than a bit of road noise I like it a lot.
Overall I guess I'll take what seems to be a newer fleet over upgrade to older vehicles.

Requested: Car with SiriusXM
Received: Hyundai Santa Fe. Not too happy about that. A couple of STS and 300s under the Cool Car signs but the rep said the only other choices for a one-way rental were a Magnum and a G6 and none had sat radio.
Saw a Malibu listed as a Cool Car - seriously?
