Imagine that.... I recently had a Camaro with power steering pump issues and a 370z with BALD rear tires. Just a friendly reminder to do a thorough inspection of your cars (expecially "performance cars", and I use that term lightly with the Camaro) before leaving the lot to ensure your safety.

I think Avis might finally be realizing that the Camaros aren't gonna go for $180/day that they were trying to get before. As a CHM, they didn't want to give me one in the spring. However, now, they have no issues giving me a Camaro. Recently, I was able to score a red SS with 6 miles, which I managed to run up to 1600 before I gave it back. It was a decent car, but I *MUCH* prefer the 350/370z's that I've had a few times now.

What locations have you been able to score the Z's?

MDT-Harrisburg Airport. However, I think they are a franchise location because of their fleet. For the most part, they have Toyotas (Camry, Camry Hybrid, Avalon, Prius, Corolla and Tundra), Honda Insights, Nissans (Altima, 350z, 370z, 350z convertible, and a few others, but no Impalas, Focuses (Foci?), Sonatas or the usual suspects on the rental lot. Also, for such a small location, they seem to have a lot of "Cool Cars": The z's, Sky, Solstice, Camaros and even a handful of Corvettes (well, until they sold the 'vettes 2 weeks ago).

The best upgrade I had! Wow! I was looking for a Dodge Charger but SFO hadn't one. They were almost out of Premium cars, so they proposed me a Town Car. Being European, wasn't aware of what this car is, until I saw it. Back to the desk, I asked for something else, until one dude saying "Hey why not the Camaro ?" Heart hard-beating, I said yes, and what a surprise when I saw it was a 2SS (ie. V8 with XM and leather) !

Both avis.com and avis.fr were not proposing Camaro as my return location (LAX) was different from the pick-up one (SFO), but it seemed Avis people in SFO didn't care about that. Good for me!

Actually had a reservation at Hertz as well, but I went on their lot, saw the HHR they'd assigned me, and went to see what Avis had.

Driving that thing is like piloting a small boat. Couldn't see where the back of the car was well enough to parallel park. No satellite radio. Kinda underwhelmed overall.

When I was in Vegas in July, I was able to rent the new Camaro from AVIS and it was awesome. It had 3 miles on it and I returned it, they inspected it several times before it was officially returned.

After this week's rental, I get bumped into Avis first. Do you see more upgrades with AVIS first or any other good benefit?

I went back to the desk to try and get a CTS or STS, but there was some German company in town that had reserved them all (or so I was told).

The Saturn is actually really nice. Full leather, heated seats, XM. 20,000 miles on the odo, but it still feels pretty new.
