I recently applied and was approved for this card with a $15K CL. After reading up on the bank and their systems I am beginning to rethink this. Possibly make a purchase, wait till the statement closes and cancel citing that I thought the annual fee was waved for the first year. Hopefully they don't try to take the 60K LM back...

Any experience around this?

Don't lie. You'll be a more respectable human being if you're honest.

So you're re-thinking the bank and its systems. Glad you made that clear-I thought for a minute there that you just wanted to duck the fee and keep the miles.

Based on a lot of posts here and elsewhere it appears their systems are help together with glue, rubber bands, and duct tape (obviously a joke but from what I read it leaves a lot to be desired, miles not posting correctly for Avianca purchases and the likes not to mention cards being locked and so on....). Of course I am interested in keeping the miles and paying as little out of pocket for those miles. Since there isn't a minimum spend on the card I can spend $5 + the annual fee for the 60K miles and cancel the card which would be $155 for 60K LM which isn't to bad IMO. End of the day, like any others in the miles game I am trying to get the miles for as little as possible.

Wrong. Many others; not any others.

LifeMiles is full of gimmicks

LifeMiles is full of gimmicks
when you try to use your LifeMiles
which has a very limited selection
unless you select business class
you will get smacked with high taxes and redemption fees
buying any normal ticket is much cheaper
so don't fall into this pit-hole anymore

Oh come on, live in to your confusion, its practically screaming at me in your posts. You seem like the rest of the 2005 FT crowd who's mad about the new generation. Live it up.

I guess the baby boomers think correcting spelling on the internet is "help." That's cute too. Enjoy retirement.
