I have never had an issue with chase and LM before, but this time around, can't use CSR to buy any points. So frustrating.

The way Lifemiles shows the offer is 100% + 140% = 240%. but in reality it's just 140% bonus.

I think the 200% bonus was offered to a select few credit card holders during the first few introductory months of the avianca credit card debut.

Your Avianca LifeMiles credit card has an exclusive offer just for you. Buy 1 get 3 LifeMiles when you buy from LM 2,000 up to LM 15,000 from Dec 25th to 27th 2016.
Haven't held the card for the past year so unsure if they are still offering similar promos.

Has anyone else issues with purchasing miles using Australian ANZ cards? Last time I purchased (must be over a year ago) it worked fine but can't get the payment through now on either card. It seems to process and then comes up with a blank pop-up window and is stuck. Called ANZ to confirm that my card should work fine for US Dollar transactions and they said there are no requests showing for either card from Avian or Lifemiles and that it should work fine.
Any ideas to help me? What is the document section about that wasn't there when purchased last? I tried with my drivers license number and passport but neither works.
Cheers.

You can ring the bank back and ask them for an 'override' for the fraud on the card (28 degrees offers this, ANZ may not, or may call it something different). This completely lifts any fraud protection - so your card is vulnerable. Make the transaction and then call back to have the override removed. This was recommended by 28 degrees and works differently to 'putting a note in the system' about the impending transaction which doesn't actually appear to achieve much. Citi bank cards issued in Australia work just fine.

All credit cards can be hit and miss, not just Aussie ones. 28 Degrees also blocks, and if you call them they have 'no record' of the transaction. I think it is still being blocked by the banks. The issue is not the USD amounts, but the origin of the transaction in Colombia.

If all fails I guess I need to call Lifemiles.

Worth trying, but I've had the same issue calling - the same credit cards that fail on line also fail by phone - and again, no record at all by the bank

All my cards are ANZ and they used to work fine with Lifemiles. A few years ago I still had German cards as well but don't have them anymore.

Hopefully calling the bank in advance should help with the issue!

Not a lot you can do. My frined was in that situation - card failed on line. Called and the card also failed there. After three attempts the card was blocked completely. They had to get a friend in New York to go into the NY city office to pay for the ticket
Hopefully calling the bank in advance should help with the issue!

Anyway, I got around it with a virtual visa card and was able to safe my miles from expiring.

I'm not sure this would apply to nz09's situation, but I'll throw it out here anyway. Recently I attempted to make an online purchase of some computer equipment here in Thailand from a Thai vendor using my USA-issued VISA card. My card was rejected. I called my card issuer and they said they showed no record of any verification request.
Quoting the verification service's (Aeon) rejection reason, I wrote the Thai vendor and they replied:
(Aeon supplied the credit card verification for the Thailand vendor.)
Since the VISA card in question is a MileagePlus Explorer card and is not supposed to be issued to folks living overseas, I decided to not rattle any cages, and just paid the vendor by an ATM bank transfer of funds. But, maybe nz09 and others experiencing difficulties with LifeMiles authorizing their credit cards, might call their credit card issuer about the ECI code?

Thank you for the order and sorry for the troubles.
The error message showing in Aeon's system for your attempts is that the card is not fully enabled for the verified by Visa authentication. The ECI code returned is 06 where only 05 is allowed as per our security settings (ECI details here https://www.paydollar.com/b2c2/eng/m...nehelp_eci.htm).
We require payments to be fully enabled for this security feature otherwise the payments will fail. We have this requirement to protect ourselves from card chargebacks, when payments go through verified by Visa then it's 100% the card issuing bank that's responsible in case of chargebacks. We were hit hard some years back by a card scamming gang and lost several hundred thousand baht in the process, since then we've had this requirement for credit card payments.
If Aeon can see that your card isn't fully enabled for the verified by Visa then they will fail the attempt and your bank can probably not even see that they tried anything.
This only seems to be an issue with American cards, everywhere else in the world these safety features are pretty much always enabled for cards by default, for some reason it doesn't seem to be as common in the US.

I've bought miles recently from LifeMiles using a 140% bonus from OMAAT. Everything went fine until I discovered that LifeMiles has done the same transaction twice. After my e-mails they reverted the miles, but have NOT refunded my money. It's been a week and they have stopped responding to my e-mails. I think I'll dispute the transaction through Amex tomorrow. Any advice my friends?
