This freaking sucks. I bought like $1800 in miles, then the transaction went into pending mode. Since I am coming upon my trip, I decided to use other means to fund my ticket. Two days later, the miles were finally purchased even though it says something is wrong. Weird system

Just got an email this morning apparently exclusively for holders of the new credit card for miles at 3 for 1...buy 1, get 2 free. But it's capped at 15,000 purchased. Seemed like a worthwhile deal. So I bought 15,000 for $495...which equated to 45,000 miles added to my account. Used the LM credit card too to get that extra bonus for Avianca spend.

the card is brand new. But Avianca is always running mileage sale promos of some sort. I've seen 2.5x a couple of times. But this 3x offer is the best I am aware of. But the other promos allow you to buy a lot more, usually up to 150K
