Asiana Flight #221
Depart JFK 1:00 PM
Arrive ICN 4:30 PM

Western Menu (lunch):

Korean Menu (lunch):

Pre-arrival Snack:

Asiana Bar:

Melon, Parma Ham, and Marinated Shrimp:

Poached Lobster & Salmon Gravlax:

Lentil Soup:

The soup was fine, but didn't come close to resembling any lentil soup I had ever tried. Also, Asiana's habit of serving soup tepid is disappointing.

Grilled Chicken Breast, Potato, Vegetables w/ Chicken Jus:

Fruit & Cheese Plate:

Raspberry Cake:

Ham, Cheese, and Pickles on a Croissant (mid-flight snack -- sorry for the poor quality pic):

Marinated Shrimp and Prosciutto:

Grilled Shrimp and Scallops:

Beef Brochette:

Fruit Tart:

I observed three general weaknesses in OZ food when I flew them last November:

1. Soup served tepid
2. Uninspired desserts
3. Small (though high quality) portion sizes

Number 1 is still an issue. The last two have improved greatly.

Food pics from my remaining three flights will be forthcoming later.

Asiana Flight #745
Depart ICN 7:40 PM
Arrive HKG 10:30 PM

Western Menu:

Korean Menu:

Prawns with Walnut, Apple, & Celery Salad:

Side Salad with Italian Dressing:

Beef Tenderloin:

Grilled Cod:

Fruit & Cheese Plate:

I did not take a picture of the ice cream, but it was nothing more than a small, boring tub of Haagen Dazs vanilla ice cream.

Asiana Flight #750
Depart HKG 1:10 AM
Arrive ICN 5:30 AM

Western Menu:

Korean Menu:

Smoked Ham with Salad:

Underneath the salad was some kind of weird, unappetizing dressing. I left it alone.

Chinese Style Chicken:

I forgot to take a pic of the fruit, but it was nothing substantial.

Grapes, Cheese, and Crackers:

Chocolate Banana Roll Cake:

Fruit:

That's papaya underneath the left strawberry.

Thanks for posting the pictures, everyone! I can't help but wonder, why is the Korean food so uninspiring/undifferentiated from Y?

The few times I've flown OZ in C, I always ordered the Western choice and was quite happy. In Y, I usually go with the Korean option, especially the Ssambab. For Y, I'm quite happy with the Korean, even though I wish they'd change the menu from time to time (I've had the same food for the respective route every flight for the past 4 years). But while it's more than adequate for Y, I'm surprised that they serve almost the exact same dish in C. It seems they spruce up the soup a little, add a vegetable or two and an extra side dish, but that's it. The difference for Western food between Y and C, on the other hand, is night and day.

Yes I find Korean menu repetitive...any one with experience with KE (yes I know this is OZ board)?

Any recent updates? Especially on the LAX-ICN route? Will be flying LAX-ICN-HKG on the A380 in a week or so.

I was just on LAX-ICN, I didn't take any pictures of the meal because I don't think it has changed much. Western choice was steak, fish and something else. Korean choice was ssambap. Wine selection seemed decent. The one thing I really enjoyed was the snack, made upon request. The croissant sandwich was quite delicious.

Thanks for the update. What did you choose as the main course and how was it?
