This is the most recent regulation, dated Mar 23, 2022.

The president is stretching the "no quarantine" definition. It's the same as Singapore's "no quarantine", i.e. detained until PCR comes back negative.

I have been emailing the Conrad and they are believing there's no longer a quarantine at all and likely no prepaid stay needed, but are awaiting an official letter from the government to confirm. They said they would contact me again once they know. The Indonesian government website seems confusing to begin with and it seems there's more information on official or non-official tourism websites than directly.

Singapore has not required a PCR test on arrival for some time and the antigen test on arrival (which is currently self administered so takes almost no time) is also being scrapped April 1st.

Also allowing self-swabbing with a proctor for the pre-departure test on the same date too.

As usual, Indonesia is "slightly" behind Singapore. We all know that already.
The "no quarantine" that I referred to is the "no quarantine" that was promoted heavily during Singapore VTL days, when in reality incoming travelers were still jailed until their PCR test came back negative.

From the perspective of residents of Singapore (many who hadn't seen their families in two years before the VTL) 5-6 hours of waiting for the negative test on arrival was no big deal compared to potentially weeks in a hotel but I get that spending many hours in a hotel on arrival is a big deterrent for inbound tourism. The Singapore-US VTL was also important for bilateral diplomatic relations which certainly contributed to the amount of press it got even if it involved a small number of travelers and wasn't really designed for tourists.

Dumb question but is 2x24 the same as 48 hours?
Not a dumb question at all. In fact, I came here specifically to ask the same thing.

From everything I read, it does look like a confusing way of saying 48 hours, but if anyone knows for sure, it would be very helpful.

My International Arrival Experience at DPS, 27 March

- the first section you get to is something of a documents check; the official looked at my pandemic (travel) insurance, PCR test #1, onward flight booking, hotel reservation, and vaccination certificate. There's a limited set of rows of chairs leading up to the documents check; I just jetted towards an available chair. If you don't get to sit down yet, you'll be in a scrum of humanity waiting for a spot.

- thereafter, you pay for the airport PCR test, either in cash or by credit card. that's another chair-based queue.

- then, the PCR test itself. this was quite fast, a dual nostril doozy.

- after that, a vaccine certificate and PCR test #1 check.

- finally?, immigration.

- just kidding, the actual "finally" involves filling out the darn customs "bea cukai" form.

- it's expected that you zip straight to your room to wait until your PCR test results come back. I walked to my hotel; by the time I got there, the results were emailed-- "I'm not human." (however, anecdotal reports from a few Indonesians made me think that it would have been many more hours until the results would have come in. just depends on how busy the airport testing area is, I reckon.)

It's a bizarre milieu now; I barely saw any other tourists in Kuta/Legian (though many shops closed due to the pandemic), and the twin beaches of Kuta and Jerman were devoid of non-locals.

Thanks Bento, nice to hear some real-life reports. Am flying to DPS via SIN, but have an overnight layover in SIN. Do I have this right - have to test prior to boarding in Seattle for SIN, probably have to test in SIN for DPS since the 2 x 24 will be expired by then? I'm still dizzy with the Indo requirements.

Yep, Singapore will require one test, and then if that one has already expired, Indonesia will require another.

My advice: print out EVERYTHING for Indonesia (and, in case check-in wants it somewhere along the way)--

- onward flight ticket
-hotel reservation in Bali
-PCR test
-insurance
-and of course, the proof of vaccination

(I was flying from India the day they once again permitted all international flights -- which was added pressure -- and had all of the above in tangible form so that they could be checked and double-checked in India. My connecting flight was through SIN, but nobody revisited the forms there. However, in Indonesia, they were all checked again.)
