My International Arrival Experience at DPS, 27 March
- the first section you get to is something of a documents check; the official looked at my pandemic (travel) insurance, PCR test #1, onward flight booking, hotel reservation, and vaccination certificate. There's a limited set of rows of chairs leading up to the documents check; I just jetted towards an available chair. If you don't get to sit down yet, you'll be in a scrum of humanity waiting for a spot.
- thereafter, you pay for the airport PCR test, either in cash or by credit card. that's another chair-based queue.
- then, the PCR test itself. this was quite fast, a dual nostril doozy.
- after that, a vaccine certificate and PCR test #1 check.
- finally?, immigration.
- just kidding, the actual "finally" involves filling out the darn customs "bea cukai" form.
- it's expected that you zip straight to your room to wait until your PCR test results come back. I walked to my hotel; by the time I got there, the results were emailed-- "I'm not human." (however, anecdotal reports from a few Indonesians made me think that it would have been many more hours until the results would have come in. just depends on how busy the airport testing area is, I reckon.)
It's a bizarre milieu now; I barely saw any other tourists in Kuta/Legian (though many shops closed due to the pandemic), and the twin beaches of Kuta and Jerman were devoid of non-locals.
