I have flown them 2x EZE/LIM, never LIM/EZE, and many times SCL/EZE. I have not liked the LP crews as much as the LA crews (these would be 2xxx series flight numbers) in the front cabin, which you get on the EZE/LIM segments. When there was the LAX/SCL nonstop, then I prefer that flight and then connect to EZE, but with the suspension of that flight, it makes sense to change @ LIM.

It seems like the best options seem to be either the AC route SFO-YYZ-EZE, then, or LANA SFO-LAX/MIA-SCL-EZE. Two stops seems like a lot--I am guessing it's quite tiresome though.

I always fly on UA, SFO-IAD-EZE. The connection times in IAD are short in both directions, so it minimizes the pain if you have to fly in economy. I don't really care about onboard service or VOD in Y, and just sleep on the IAD-EZE leg and vice versa (both flights leave around 9-10 pm local time)

Is there no SFO-SCL-EZE option? It seems like it would be an option to me.

Anyways, I flew Air Canada a long time ago. Just recently we flew a "LAN" itinerary between MIA and SCL. It was operated by AA on the way to SCL and LAN on the way back. In short, even if you go the Miami route make sure you're on the LAN operated flight as the AA 767 we took was awful in terms of service whereas the LAN 767 had new AVOD systems, etc that made the flight much more enjoyable.

My wife and I also try to fly international carriers as much as possible for overseas flights since we flight economy class. All of them have been just as good, and most of them better, then what the US airlines give you.

Can't imagine why you'd want to fly the likes of MX and AR over CO, DL, AA, and UA.

There is no SFO-SCL option. In fact, I do not think there are any non-stops from SFO to South America.

That's surprising to me. I assumed there was since LAN does fly to LAX. Guess it's good to know in the future.

Thanks for the info

There are none. It makes my life a lot more complicated than it needs to be. LAN has rumored of SFO service, but I haven't heard anything now for some time. A SFO/LIM flight would be great. One stop with an easy LIM connection to most of South America.

I thought one could fly from SFO to Sao Paolo or Rio de Janeiro? These two are also some possibilities I have kept in mind to connect to Buenos Aires, although I do not know which are the Brazilian airlines that fly this route, or their quality, etc. If someone knows, please let me know.

Doesn't look as if you can from what I've seen.

From time to time there will be a thru flight number on an airline, but it doesn't mean you don't get off and change planes. SFO is actually quite a distance from EZE (over 6000 mi) and probably doesn't justify a 777 or similar, and some of the 767s would be at or past range on that route.

Has anyone tried the SFO-MEX-EZE route on Mexicana? Apart of SFO-MIA-EZE via LAN, the former seems interesting, although I do not know much of the quality. SFO-YYZ-EZE is still my first choice, though.

Mexicana has a decent product, in my experience it depends on the crew you get... some crews really make a difference. Their J product is acceptable, nothing to write home about but they do try.

I may be wrong (as I've never connected @ MEX) but I believe MEX is a more complicated transfer vis a vis immigration. SCL and LIM connections are merely getting off the plane, going through a quick metal detector/carry-on scan, and then back to the departures area. YYZ (and I believe MEX) involve immigration formalities.

MEX has a new terminal so I understand that you dont need to go through immigration if you are in transit.... although this should be double checked before booking if this will be an issue.... if the connections are not tight, why should it...?
