Priority Pass admits the cardholder to private airport clubrooms. It is not a substitute for joining airline frequent flyer programs to earn miles or points. There is some overlap in that many airline programs allow club admission as a perq of achieving "elite" status, but you would need to maintain mid-tier status on at least three airlines (one each in OneWorld, Star and Skyteam alliance) to approach the same range of locations. Even then, most US-based carriers do not offer complimentary club access to elite members when flying on an economy class domestic ticket.
I don't see any connection whatsoever between Priority Pass and hotel programs. Please explain your idea?

I am thinking about dropping the coin for the Plat Amex but first I want to make sure that the Priority Pass that I get is the $99 pay for individual use card. The Amex Plat can be used for DL and AA clubs on an unlimited basis. Correct?

Amex Plat opens the lounge doors in US for DL/AA/NW/CO lounges when flying with corresponding airline.

The American Express Platinum Card is issued by American Express Centurion Bank, annual fee $450, no Priority Pass (for cards issued in USA), but access to AA, CO, DL, NW when flying the corresponding airline. Details here...

Citi Platinum American Express Card is issued by Citibank, annual fee $99 (after first year), includes standard Priority Pass with no charge for first three visits each year, $27 per visit or guest thereafter. The Citi card is not accepted at AA, CO, DL or NW clubs (although some of these will accept the Priority Pass). Details here...

The other problem with the US Plat card is travel outside the US. If I'm flying Virgin Atlantic I can't use my Amex to get me into any clubs in London. Priorty Pass does get me into clubs.
I would rather have the a Free Priorty Pass like the other non US members get.

This is the problem for me. I will be flying somewhere and there will only be a Delta club but I will not be flying Delta. So I have the US Plat card AND pay for Priorty Pass.

And without a doubt there would be an increase in the fee. For example IEC/Finland Platinum is 550EUR annually (about $804), it is possible that many Amex US Platinum customers wouldn't be ready to pay that high annual fee.

I believe you would have to have a non-U.S. address to apply for and receive the card initially, but my understanding is that you can change the address to a U.S. address any point after you have the card. YMMV.

I have PP through the Citi Amex card. I seldom use it due to One World and AA lounge access. However, the times I have accessed a lounge w/a guest, I have been overcharged and double charged. I had to fax my "record of visit" to substantiate I had only one guest, not two guests as I had been charged on my Amex. The charges also appeared twice in one statement. After remedying the problem, the charges reappeared in subsequent Amex statements and stem from the same lounge visit w/a guest.
Given my experiences, I would not recommend PP.

I don't know if it can be done with a U.S. address, but you could apply for the Platinum International Dollar Charge Card via AmEx UK for $550 annual fee. This includes the top level Priority Pass for two people -- the card holder and a supplementary platinum card hold (no charge above the $550 for a supplementary card holder).

I tried to call AMEX to find out about the Platinum International Dollar Charge Card. I was given the run around from Amex Platinum SIN to Amex Platinum US to Amex Platinum Philippines to Amex Platinum SIN back to US back to Philippines. None of the Amex reps had a clear idea. Finally the Philippines rep said I can apply for one for $750 or so, promised to fax me the application etc papers. That was more than a week ago, and I am still waiting for her fax!!!
