This is the problem for me. I will be flying somewhere and there will only be a Delta club but I will not be flying Delta. So I have the US Plat card AND pay for Priorty Pass.
The other problem with the US Plat card is travel outside the US. If I'm flying Virgin Atlantic I can't use my Amex to get me into any clubs in London. Priorty Pass does get me into clubs.
True and that is the limitation Amex US doesn't change. US markets wouldn't utilize the Priority Pass so much? Maybe many customers are traveling very much domestically and don't hit the limitations so much.

And without a doubt there would be an increase in the fee. For example IEC/Finland Platinum is 550EUR annually (about $804), it is possible that many Amex US Platinum customers wouldn't be ready to pay that high annual fee.
