And as always Business [Plat] vs. Personal spend...... If you're going to buy widgets, get a Business Plat card and spend $xm..... if travelling and buying expensive stuff and starbucks coffees, get Personal Plat and eventually an invite will come at the lower levels mentioned (being typically multiple 6 figures).....

And on the continent (Europe) criteria are generally lower than UK but also fewer use Amex in general

I got a phone call today from a 212 number; the voice mail sounded official enough and said I was being invited to get a Centurion card. If true, I am pretty excited and now need to decide if it will really be worth the initiation and annual fees (which was previously just an academic exercise for me). I guess I'll call them back tomorrow, but I've become suspicious/paranoid about scam offers. Why wouldn't they have sent me a secure message on the website?

For those who have gotten invitations recently, is the random call from a 212 number the way you were notified as well?

212 is NYC, which is where their executive offices are.

Keep us posted!

Still waiting here for my call (going on 9 years now).

I would not call any number other than the one printed on the back of your card. Previous invitations reported here have been through USPS.

Agreed!

I seem to recall that calling the number on the back of your card and explaining the situation does yield a call forwarded to the appropriate group. From there, they'll be able to find your invitation, no doubt.

I did Google the number but it didn't come up with anything more specific than "Manhattan".

Just called AmEx via the number on the back of my card--this was a scam. The 212 number is not associated with AmEx. Interestingly, overnight I also got an official-looking e-mail with the same info saying I'd been invited and asking me to call the same number. This is not your typical amateur scam--both the phone call and the e-mail could easily be real. No obvious typos, crazy redirected e-mail address, or other dead giveaways. Also interesting that the scammers got my cell phone number and e-mail address, and know that I have an AmEx product and am interested in Centurion.

So fellow FlyerTalkers, beware.

Was the email from *.aexp.com? Quite a thing if they spoofed that.

Is thus the spam email, with fake tel numbers, links and email addresses? If so, sure you want to post those?

I googled the 212 number and it came up with this 2016 FT thread:

Has anyone actually received an "Invite" to the Centurion program in 2016?

I did a search on "white pages" and the 212 and 800 numbers is a legit Amex phone number.

Weird. Called the number at the bottom and it sounds like a high school kid doing the "thank you for calling..." opening. Tried to hit zero for an operator and it just returned me to the main menu again. Put in Jason's extension and hit a voice mail from "Jason Rothburg" or something like that.

Looked up the 800 number and some people say it was bogus and one person had a twitter pointer from Amex saying it was real. https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-800-906-0236

212 number doesn't come back as anyone other than a landline phone by TC Systems. Called the 212 number and it seemed a little more legit although I don't think I've ever heard them say "our office is closed."

Checked the fax number and Amex on Twitter seems to confirm it:

Seems inconclusive so far...
