Just a note to OP that the Silver Line is a bus. It's very convenient and I use it every time I'm in Boston, but it you go looking for the subway entrance to the Silver Line at the airport, you'll never find it because the Silver Line is a bus.

If we apply the highly scientific formula of:
number of flights X shortness of flights X awesomeness of stuff to see X ease of getting to the stuff,
I agree that BOS and DCA far outshine everything else, but for me DCA is the winner. Hop on the metro to the Mall, and there is so much amazing stuff to see and do.
# of flights: about the same
shortness of flights: about the same
awesomeness of sights: DC > BOS
ease of getting there from the airport: DC >> BOS (the Silver Line sucks rocks, the metro rules)
Have fun!

Could do ORD. It's about an hour on the Blue Line to the Loop (city center). Can easily walk to the lakefront from there. There's a shower at the AC (if the OP has access) upon return to the airport. Nice view of the field from the AC.

A good point regarding lounge access. I'm BAEC Gold/OneWorld Emerald, but I've read that for AA domestic, J class is not always entitled to lounge access!

As BA OWE, you will have access even flying in coach. (I believe also to the Flagship Lounge, if you decide to go to ORD. The ORD FL is *tres bon*, in my opinion.)

Whether flying LGA-BOS or JFK-LAX, you might have trouble finding Avios availability on the nonstops. But even if you can, also check cash prices, as you might not get very good value on an Avios redemption. Even on the cheaper "Basic Economy" fares, you still get to pick a Main Cabin Extra (extra-leg-room) seat for free as a BAEC Gold, and you still get priority boarding. MCE offers greater seat pitch than if you were flying in Club Europe.

Another vote for Chicago. (Of course, I'm biased)
Easy train ride into town for $5 and endless amounts of delicious food
