LAX-HNL Upgrade Chances as Plat Pro?
Looking at 1/26 or 1/27 LAX->HNL and 1/29 or 1/30 HNL->LAX.
What can I do to maximize upgrade odds as Plat Pro? Just matched over from Hyatt. |
Have you spent any money with AA in the last year? If you haven't, you will be at the back of the line of all of the other Plat Pros who are on the upgrade list. And behind all of the EXP's. And the CK's.
Book the flight that has the most open seats right now and cross your fingers and hope for the best, and that nobody buys more seats or takes upgrade for cash offers... |

Ah, also, as a Plat Pro is there any reason not to book basic economy aside from inflexibility? We get free checked bags + MCE even on basic economy right?

I flew this as a Plat Pro back in 09/2022 on a random Tuesday and didn't get upgraded unfortunately. The list was pretty long (don't remember how much but probably was 7/20 or something like that) and they are pretty aggressive with in-app upgrades. If you have a good app offer I would just take it. There's a lot of leisure demand.

ONT-DFW - Cleared at 100h window DFW-CLE - Cleared at 100h window CLE-DFW - Cleared at 100h window DFW-ONT - flight was C4 up until about T-36. C0/J1 at T-24. I was 3/27 and 1 cleared at the gate 5 minutes prior to boarding. |
Yesterday:
AUS-LAX: cleared at about t-65 hours. LAX-PHX: didn’t clear and ended up #8 on the UL. One person cleared at the gate. today: PHX-AUS: cleared at t-72 hours. AUS-DFW: cleared at the same time as PHX-AUS. I’m currently at 192,000 LPs but this trip will put me over 200k. |

How many seats to sell before comp upgrade??
Hi all,
Flying to DFW for a quick business meeting on 1/19. Outbound from LAX is a 772. Lots of seats in C. Got the email for upgrade this morning. Return is the same day on the same equipement, 772. Still in PE for that flight. Showing 6 seats still available for purchase. Upgrade on the outbound came thru with 7 seats available for sale. Was wondering if anyone had any experience tracking their own upgrades (complimentary) as to when AA will upgrade. Granted upgrades can happen once you've boarded. I get that. I'm just wondering if its a random process or if AA has some algorithm that comes into play. Would love any feedback. thank you in advance. FYI EF shows 2 seats available, yet when I call AA I cannot get anyone to agree to that. |
