Hi,
I’m ExP with 230k LP… just requested an upgrade from premium to business with miles and co-pay for JFK to DOH. Flight is in about 4 weeks. Checks showing the flight is J7 C0. Before I applied for upgrade app was trying to get me to upgrade for $900. Hoping will get the upgrade with miles. |
2/23 DTW-DFW 738 #6/42 on list. 1-17 were ep. 1 and 2 cleared. booked 2 hours before departure
2/24 DFW-MIA 772 #1/51 on the list! 1-6 cleared. booked about 14hr prior MIA-EYW e175 cleared when I booked no list went out with a few open F seats 2/25 EYW-MIA e175 1/1 on the list. booked 24 hours before departure. Did not clear since GA put a nonrev in the open F seat instead of me. MIA-EYW e175 cleared when I booked. F went out with 8 open. 2/26 EYW-CLT a319 2/15. nobody cleared CLT-DTW 738 cleared when I booked 3 days prior. ended up missing the connection. switched onto later flight and was 2/19 for 2 seats. 284k LPs |

DCA-MIA tomorrow morning and 9th (150k PP) on the list for 1 seat. :(
Looking on EF, every DCA-MIA flight up to the 7.45pm departure looks borderline sold out, I know the food festival is on but kind of surprised at that. |
Whelp, got down to PLS today. Upgraded CLT->PLS right at T-100 on an award flight so thank Jeebus for that.
DCA->CLT did not clear. 28 people on the upgrade list. 1 open seat and I was #2 on the list. Guess that means that where were two EXPs on the flight and the remaining 26 were PPRO or below (unless there was another EXP on an award seat who had fewer LPs than me). |

I hope you reported this GA. I know it's a short flight and not a big deal to you as the flyer, but a GA doing this with impunity is a real erosion of the upgrade benefit.

I'm not sure this is the best place for this post, so mods, relocate if appropriate.
My travel experience is plummeting. I first made EXP for 2020, still have it, flew PHL-LAS about once a month unless COVID was too hot, have spent about 80% of my time in F and probably 40% in lie-flats. But... I'm cutting back travel a lot, I can't get an AA-branded credit card, even with my 11x multiplier still in effect I will be lucky to make Plat for 2024-25. Now, I'm planning to move to Las Vegas anyway, so my travel will go way down once I move. A few years ago I earned 4 SWU's. I used 2 of them to go to Italy in June, 2020 - wait - um, that trip didn't happen. So I gave them away before they expired. Right now I have 1 SWU that expires June 15, and I haven't made my loyalty choice awards yet (I'm in the 200-349K band). The only other time I tried to use an SWU was on a LAS-PHL daytime with lie-flats. I was #1 on the list but didn't clear. So here's the question. What loyalty choice awards should I take? Sitting in F is a big deal to me, and the price gap presently between F and Y is quite wide. I expect to make 5-8 trips to Vegas during the upcoming cycle. Early in the year I'll still have decently high rolling LP's but they will go way down. So my inclination is to take the max of 5 SWU's and plan to use them on PHL-LAS flights later in the year. But I have zero experience with actually using/clearing a SWU. In the course of 5-8 roundtrips, am I likely to clear enough to use all 5? |

Over the past 1.5 weeks with about 235K LP, MIA/ATL 321neo T-100; ATL/MIA T-100 321ceo, MIA'LAX number 4 on a 321neo maybe one cleared, LAX/MIA number 4 again 3 cleared, 772. At least I had PE.

I wasn't sure which thread this goes in but seems related and someone here likely knows the answer...
The LPs reset for annual status, but my understanding is 12-month rolling LPs are used to determine upgrade list order within a status level. Is there a way to quickly see one's current rolling 12-month LPs? |

I have a basic question--we (3) are flying from ORD to DFW to AKL and I am Platinum. We depart ORD 3:30PM, land DFW 6PM, and depart for AKL at 10:30PM. Does the Platinum 48-hour upgrade window reference 3:30PM or 10:30PM for the DFW to AKL flight?
We are currently in Economy (Y) and hoping to get Main Cabin Extra. I plan to pay close attention to availability at the 120-, 100-, 72-, and 48-hour upgrade windows for higher elites moving into the five Business Class and seven Premium Economy seats and freeing up seats in Main Cabin Extra. Any better suggestions? thank you |
This post contains a unicorn...
This week's flights: DEN-ORD, Monday 8am, 738, cleared at 100 hours ORD-DCA, Monday 1pm, A319, did not clear DCA-ORD, Friday, 11am, A319, cleared at 100 hours ORD-DEN, Friday, 1pm, 738, cleared at ~26 hours Probably around 220K rolling LP. It's not something I track. Also the DCA-ORD upgrade was likely the difference between making and missing my connection. Delayed flight meant the door opened at ORD 9 minutes prior to the door closing on my DEN departing flight. Being in 1C instead of 10C meant I was first off the plane and could dash down the hall to the next gate. |
