Good grief. This is an issue that is specific to a plug type door which exists on certain Max 9s. AA does not fly the Max 9.

Not to mention the hundreds of flights that AA and WN have been operating with the Max-8 with no issues every day up until now.

While I agree that AA doesn’t fly the MAX 9, the fact is that too much is going on with the B737 MAX and the B787 aircraft. I just don’t feel comfortable flying them.

yes, however this doesn't instill confidence in Boeing having gotten their excrement together.

I'd still fly the MAX, but the endless ongoing saga with their manufacturing is concerning. Within weeks, first inspecting all aircraft for potentially missing bolts (how does this even happen?) And now this issue.

Not to mention the MAX7 and 10 delays, 777X delays, 787 issues....

Don’t forget that there is a de-icing issue with the B737 MAX too. It is one thing after another!

Same plug door exists on most 737-900s (which AA also doesn't operate).

That won't be difficult at all.

All of these issues fail to inspire confidence in Boeing. Then there's the KC-46 drama, soda bottles and tools left inside wings and huge cost overruns.

AA will be at an advantage as it doesn't fly as many 737MAX planes. Many people do not want to fly the MAX right now with all of its issues.

As many as who? By this metric, DL is set.

many people may say they don't want to fly the MAX, but the majority of the traveling public can't tell an a350 from a 737, so it's a lot of hot air. See how quickly the "avoid the MAX" stuff died after they were reintroduced.

I'm not sure how a cost overrun makes a plane unsafe to fly for a consumer.

It doesn't. It's a sign of a corporate problem.

Boeing needs to clean house and go back to their roots, however, thousands of Maxes have been flying safely for several years now, so this feels more of a one off since the same plug is used on the 739s that have been in service and produced for over a decade. Let's remember, that the A320 when it launched back in the late 80s had years of teething problems and early 707s were crashing once or twice a year so let's be thankful that these planes when they do get in trouble are still safe.. I think the manufacturers need to slow it down and the NTSB better step up testing. The MAX is the most tested airplane in the skys and even with that said, accidents can and will happen.

Let's be thankful that other then nerves, everyone is safe, AK did an amazing job and the -900 and -9 will be a better plane because of it (as well as the -10 and -200).
