2018 Program Year Elite Status Buyback / Renew / Boost (as of EOY 2017)
"Grace" for those close to completing status requirements has not been offered since AA began the buyback / renew / boost program.
In previous years, AA (and US) have offered those who failed to requalify for elite status the opportunity to buy back or "boost" status for the following status year. That offer was extended for the 2017 programme year, and the 2018 offering is be discussed here. E-mails have gone out to many members (16 Nov) with tailored offers. To see if you are eligible and to see what your offers are, go to https://elite.americanairlines.com/e...ewal/login.cfm
NOTE: “Plus, your purchase price will count toward your Rolling Elite Qualifying Dollars, helping improve your upgrade priority.” - AA

EQD 8,097
Plat Pro buy-up offered for $1175.
I will have a short Thanksgiving trip to add a 1016 EQM and a 102 EQD (buying with TYPs is apparently going to cost me a few hundred EQDs, dammit).
Hmm. So, a $925 business class flight from TPA for a few days in AUA is just over 800 EQDs. Tempting...

Current status: PLT
EQD: $ 6735
EQM: 60,565
EQS: 35
Offered PPR for $2545
The list at the beginning of the wiki shows a huge range of ticket costs: EQD cents per EQM mile from 3.6 to 34.2.
Some must fly $500 rt coach trips to Europe while others must be paying for first class between non-hub cities.
I did not think I would make PLT this year, but my EQD cents/EQM rose compared with last year (9.4 to 11.1)

Currently Gold for 2017.
EQD: $2843
EQM: 39,566
EQS: 23
Offered to renew Gold for $215. No planned travel for the rest of the year. The $58 surcharge ($215 - $157) seems to be worth it to not have to take an extra trip to earn status.

Agreed. AA made you a very reasonable offer. Also, to get $157 EQD you'd have to spend more than $157 actual dollars (because EQD is earned only on the actual base airfare, before taxes and fees).

Considering I have flights booked to finish the year around 110k EQM, I won't be taking the offer. But, it has been going down continuously as I've completed travel over the last month. Think it started around $2700 when I was at 85k EQM

Offer is the standard $1299 for Plat or $699 for Gold.
Considering it as this was a very low year for travel for me, but not sure I really need it (though LHR based means I get to enjoy the lounge a lot...)

Currently after the few activities as an EXP I have EQD $11,313 and EQM 97,267.. and "drum roll" my offer for EXP is $1,295.... Really!
I'm not sure if AA is worth it anymore looking at other benefits from sky and star... plus me loving to try different airlines and airports to keep things interesting in a boring international flight maybe I would try something else for 2019... What are you guys thinking in terms of sticking with AA vs other airlines and alliances?

Like I said, I took the money and did some travelling... really AA you have to make the buy up worth it more than travelling which except for the few really busy travellers this is not worth it...

Currently Gold, 0 in at least 40 segments cleared. EQD at $5700 now, and was in the mid 60s on the upgrade list DFW-AUS, low 20s DTW-DFW. Will be Plat by end of year, but other than the free MCE, I really don't see the benefits anymore.

I am retiring 12/31/2017 after many consecutive years earning EXP on international routes of AA and OW. I will retain EXP through January 2019; I had requalified for 2018 by 3/31/2017. Beyond that, it's LTP plus burning down my miles on domestic F and international J (and possibly using all the leftover stickers from pre-EXP years). I have already cut back on reading this forum. Thanks to everyone for the information and support over the years. This forum is invaluable for the road warrior.

My wife's offer
Current Status: None
EQD: 2,580 :: EQM: 18,332 :: EQS: 9
AAdvantage Gold Buy-Up: $595.00
Not a bad deal, but we'll pass.
My offer:
Current Status: Platinum Pro
EQD: 11,204 :: EQD: 92,063 :: EQS: 24
AAdvantage ExPlat Buy-Up: $1,795
Not a very good deal, honestly. This could be done for a lot less by flying.
Waiting for a final flown segment on CX from a couple days ago to post, which will put us both at the next status level anyway.
