AA operates out of both Terminal 2 (ticket counters, baggage check and carousels, curbside check-in, TSA, Pre-Check, Clear, Admirals Club), and gates only at Terminal 1 (linked airside, no ticket counters).

Other nuggets of info
SFO has two runway pairs:
10L/28R 11,870 ft 3,618 m Asphalt
10R/28L 11,381 3,469 Asphalt
and
1R/19L 8,650 2,637 Asphalt
1L/19R 7,650 2,332 Asphalt

These runways were designed and built with non-standard runway separation (centerlines of the parallel runways are only 750 feet / 230 m apart) Any time weather conditions affect SFO, ATC flow control is put into effect because only one runway of each runway pair can be used. This may mean delayed arrivals (and subsequent departures) as well as diversions (usually to SJC, but may include OAK).

I've used the Centurion lounge several times after arrival, they just ask for a BP and show them the inbound and explain I have a friend or co-worker landing shortly and never had an issue.

Small, subtle difference between "Day of Departure" and "Departure" I've used it on arrival too a couple of times in Vegas. I suspect the language our esteemed moderator quotes is used for the cases (one only, I think) where the lounge is not airside and folks might turn up for drinks at random times. Can't think why I'd go to LGA for a drink at the Centurion Lounge, but I suppose someone might. Would have been nice had they done the same at SFO.

I have a question for AA flights that land in Terminal 1 Concourse C at gates 45A, 45B and 47 which are the legacy US gates next in the same terminal as DL, is the baggage claim to pick up bags actually in Terminal 1 or will it be in Terminal 2?

Baggage claim will be in Terminal 2 with all other American flights.

Thanks, I thought it would be in Terminal 1 since that would physically be closer to the plane but I guess other than the gates in Terminal 1, the ticket counters and everything else for American is in Terminal 2.

It's a couple of minute walk from the T1 exit - you'll see at the exit signs for "American Baggage Claim" that direct those passengers to the T2 exit past the yoga room and by the Admirals Club

If I'm departing out of AA terminal 1 (former US Air) with carryon only, I assume I can just be dropped off at Terminal 1 and go through security there? I haven't even flown out of the legacy US Air gates before and would appreciate any words of advice from the experts... thanks.

You should have no difficulty going through security there, but I wouldn't assume that just because you're on a flight to PHL, PHX or CLT that it will leave from T1 – nowadays they sometimes leave from T2 instead.

Got it, thanks. I assume gate # will tell me which terminal. T2 is like coming home so I'd rather depart from there since I know it so well. Not that AA cares... haha

That's exactly right. If it's a gate in the 40s it's T1 - tell the Uber/Lyft you're flying T1/Delta and you'll be able to go right through. T1 has Clear and Precheck and similarly light security lines as T2 through the DL checkpoint. If 50s, T2. In my experience all the LUS planes still goto T1 though your destination may not be on a LUS plane if its a LUS hub (usually is though). IE - DFW SFO has had LUS A321s over the last year, those go into T1. PHX is starting to see more LAA 737s (though not on this route yet), etc.

If I'm flying early morning I usually arrive just at boarding time so I ask to be dropped off at T1. if I want to goto the AC - T2 does the trick. It's a short walk between anyways, at most 6-7 minutes

Perfect, thank you! I'm flying SFO PHX so I'm guessing it will be T1 but I'll check morning of flight.

No, not any more - it is most often T1, but definitely not always anymore - I know because I have made that mistake myself.

And, for example, just this morning AA855 PHX-SFO used T2 for its arrival.
