Ouch. I ran a full spreadsheet comparing BE points to AAdvantage miles a while back. Using a value of $0.03/AAdv mile (you might argue a lower value), the BE travel awards worked out to an average of $0.121/pt. The upgrade awards and special services awards were worth a bit more.
However, BE points expire. I would consult your tax advisor. |

Well you could always use the ratio of BX points to AAdv miles for comparable awards if you have a defensible calculation of the value of an AAdv mile.
The same D49 T class award is 2,000 BX points or 25,000 AAdv miles. So your 30,000 BX points are worth the same as 375,000 AAdv miles using that methodology. |
AAdv miles do not expire for folks with even moderate AAdv activity. AAdv miles can be used on one-way awards. AAdv miles can be used on partners. EXPs get free changes and redeposits of AAdv mile awards. AAdv awards can be easily booked online, self-serve. I value these benefits and use many of them regularly. In contrast, using BX awards has none of this. This has to reduce the value of BX awards relative to what you'd get in a comparison between supposedly-"comparable" awards.

Is there still only a 30-day window for upgrades as mentioned further up the thread?

Hi ljk3234! Business ExtrAA removed the 30-day restriction. Now you can upgrade any time after your ticket issued.

Don't see them

That's great news, thanks! Were the BXN1 and BXN2 Upgrade Awards for India removed?

I believe Business ExtrAA awards can only be used for flights on AA metal, so these would be useless anyway.

Did a search and couldn't find an answer.
I am thinking about cashing in some points for two AC day passes. If I were to order them today (Friday) how long does it take them to arrive in the mail? FWIW I live close to NYC. Many thanks. |

I think I recall reading on their website that they mail the passes out in 2 sweeps every month. Mine took about a week from the time I ordered it.

I redeemed one of those plan ahead awards when my points was about to expire. Had difficulty ever finding a flight for a city I want to fly to. End up losing the award.
This year around, I just use them for my Admirals Club. Not a max value but much easier than searching for hours and calling them trying to find a flight. |
Using BE points for upgrades is generally MUCH more valuable than travel awards, and the removal of the 30-day upgrade window hugely increases their value.
