Thanks guys for the answers. I will make sure to not use vouchers if I want to earn BE point!

I have indeed seen by BE number disappear from the reservation page, so I will call to reinstate it.

The certificate is good for one year and can be used for a ticket good for a year. Did you you book a ticket? That is, is 12/27/12 the expiration date of the BE certificate or the expiration date of the ticket booked with that cert?

That said, a couple of years ago I booked a flight and was unable to make it before the ticket expiration. BE let me redeposit the points for $150.
This was nearly 2 years after the points would have expired.

Upgrades

Let's say I have a business class flight JFK-SFO-JFK. The flight costs around $3500, so I'd earn 700 Business ExtrAA points (2 points per $10).

I see that a one-segment upgrade costs 650 points. Can I use the upgrade to go from J to F in a three-cabin aircraft? In other words, does this mean that basically every two J trips, I can get a 'free' upgrade to F?

If not, can someone illuminate how the upgrades work?

Do keep in mind that, IIRC, Business ExtrAA points are not given on taxes.

We just gave one of these to someone to use, and I think the certificate might have said it was only good on upgrades from economy. But I'm not certain; you might want to contact BusinessExtrAA. (I'm curious, myself.)

I just checked the T&Cs on the back of the BXP1 cert - clearly states next class of service.

I believe that others have pointed out that the BXP upgrades are particularly valuable in that they can be used to upgrade I fares, which would require a copay under AAdvantage Awards.

I usually don't make my reservations using the Business Extraa portal. I simply call the Meeting Desk the day of the flight or the day before and add my business extra code that way. They used to answer quickly, but now there's been a hold time. So I have been calling at night and they answer fast. When they add it, they just note the code. But since the reservation didn't originate with their desk, I can change online or via the regular toll free number.

I don't know what you mean about the BE Portal.
I don't see anywhere to book flights on the BE website.

You can book your tickets on aa.com and enter the BE number in your reservation there. In fact, it can even be saved to your profile and it will auto-populate in your reservations.

Can someone explain?

I have not upgraded with miles as I use SWUs.

These aren't "miles" but rather old school certificates with a different redemption schedule (points earned in the program) and specific T & Cs.

Additionally, I don't think BE has an under 21 day fee either.
And, booking is now free for all

How long does it take for points to post?

I flew one leg of my trip and my "regular" miles posted to my AA account, but I don't see any points in the BE account. Is that because I haven't completed the trip yet? Just want to make sure there's nothing I'm missing/forgetting.

Thanks.

I'm in the process of signing my company up for Business Extraa.

However during the process it has asked me to create an AAdvantage account which I've never had. I credit all my AA flights to British Airways Executive club.

For my existing reservations that I have later this month, I am concered that by adding my Business Extraa number to my reservations it will some how automatically replace it with my AAdvantage account number which I do not want to happen.

So can you credit the miles for the flight to another Oneworld partner and earn Business Extraa credit as well on the fare?

Thanks

Basically, you have to login with an AAdvantage account to "administer" the BusinessExtrAA account.

This has nothing to do with the process of booking tickets.

I regularly book tickets for multiple people, each with their own AA account but all with our BusinessExtrAA account.

EDIT: Also, I don't think you can add a BusinessExtrAA number to already booked tickets, can you? I think you have to wait until later and then request credit.

EDIT2: Be aware that some AA tickets booked through British Airways might not qualify for credit. Might be worth double checking the T&C.

I had no problem having my ExtrAA number attached to existing PNRs before the flight... I just e-mailed them.
