Int'l Upgrade

Does anybody know offhand whether the BXE3 (discount NA-Int'l upgrade) can be used from I (discount biz) to F? All of the L/O/S/W/V/Q excluded buckets are coach.

Thanks in advance.

Once again, I had about a 66% post rate for my BusinessExtrAA points. Pathetic.

At least I filed to get them... but the response says 10-12 weeks to post.

I'm pretty sure it can. The language in the Terms and Conditions does not limit the upgrade from economy, and I is not excluded.

Something to think about...

As long as I have the new Citi AAdvantage card, I will be spending AA miles on my first 100,000 worth of rewards to get the 10% kick-back, and then I will redeem B.E. points after that.

I find BE points to be much more valuable for international upgrades than AAdvantage miles, because there are no copays. @:-)

If, by "mileage fares", you mean AAwards, then no.* The [revenue] booking inventory required for each upgrade instrument is listed on the BE website.

*I'll add the caveat that I am not speaking from direct experience. Just an assumption based on the fact that AAdvantage Economy Awards are ineligible for other upgrade instruments with the exception of LFBU.

+2. I try to pick up BE points whenever I can just for this very reason. ^

I would think that the cost to upfare from L, O, S, W, V or Q would outweight the non-copay...

Depends where you are going - I've flown routes where 'M' or 'K' is the lowest coach inventory available - and also note that 'N' and 'G' are eligible.

I fare upgrade - updated answer from AA CS

Dear xxxxxx,

Thank you for your email. As a discounted fare award upgrade the BXP3 is valid for “I” fares, based on availability.

Regards,
