I was told this, a couple of days ago: "The Avis promotional points are expected to be posted by the end of May. Promotional points post 6-8 weeks from the end of the promotion, in this case 3/31/12 was the last day of this Avis promotion."

Just registered!

BTW, for those of you interested, I finally book my first flight using B.E. awards and it saved me almost $700:D for a roundtrip to Toronto^.....too bad that they charge you $25 for booking the flight over the phone with an agent....

I wish they had an easier way to book these flights online from your account in the same manner as the Aadvantage awards.....

How do you check availability before calling them?

It's not always matching, but usually if you can find award space on aa.com, you can use your award from BE.

BTW - BE upgrade awards are the same inventory as miles+copay or SWU. However, there's sometimes a qualifier for upgrade awards that the ticket can't have been booked in discount economy fares (e.g. Q, O, N or S).

As this sub-thread is focused on more general discussions about the BE program, it's now been moved here to the main thread from the Promo thread.

How does this upgrade work? On their website, it says they will mail you a certificate. Then what happens? Also, how strict are they about applying it if you do book N, O, Q, or S fares?

Do they book in the same class as advantage awards?

For BE Travel Awards, yes. For BE Upgrade Awards, as noted above, they book into the same class as AAdvantage Upgrade Awards.

See the first post in this thread for details.

I checked first AAdvantage miles availability to see what flights they have, and usually those are the ones where they are going to put you on, however, those flights are not always guaranteed.

Point in case:

For this trip I was going to use the B.E. award for my ticket, and my wife was going to use Aadvantage miles to come along with me.

--> I checked the website (aadvantage miles) to see availability.
Then I used her account and put ON HOLD her ticket using her miles.
I called AA using the phone provided when I redeemed B.E. miles.--> After i gave them the dates, the departing flight to Toronto was exactly the same as my wife; however, they didn't have available seat in the return flight (I guess because my wife had the last one available??).

I Had to book my return flight for a day later using B.E. points as I have a more flexible schedule.

I think if you book the flight with plenty of time in advance you won't run into not finding the flights you want....good luck!

Read up on Award Inventory and ExpertFlyer in the FAQ - you can search for flights with two award seats available so you don't have this problem. Alternatively, you can search AA.com, but search for 2 seats instead of 1, as it sounds like you might have.
