I've booked FSS at LHR to go from arriving T3 on AA in J to BA out of T5 in J, as a data point.

These advertorials-esq articles seem to pop up more and more outside the scope of the credit card hawking bloggers and my beef with them is that they are sometimes contain misleading or blatantly false information.

Take this for example https://www.businesstraveller.com/bu...300er-service/

Flagship First passengers also get access to their own TSA and customs screening before departure and after international arrival.
Flagship First get their own customs screening after international arrival? Unless this is something new, they don't have their own TSA screening (popping ahead of the pre-check line seems to be how that currently works) included in F tickets.

It almost sounds like the author is confusing the relatively new and paid Five Star™ Private Departure/Five Star™ Private Arrival services with the run of the mill "four class" F service.

AUS (Austin), seriously? I'm a homey (from Austin), but this is kind of funny. I mean it has never taken me more than 10 minutes, even on Int'l arrivals (BA flight) to be on my way. The Priority Check-in is a single line and I don't see where they would add an even more "premium" check-in location at this time. I love my hometown AC, but using the 5* in either direction hardly qualifies for the $$'s charged for the service.

But hey, maybe visiting music fans will pay for it (once)..

I imagine the FSS will be offered using Club staff rather than dedicated Premium Services staff like DFW and they’re putting this out there for PR and occasional high rollers who don’t know what you do.

Sometimes these types of PR attempts can backfire if some "influencer" orders the service and realizes how little is offered at an airport such as Austin and they go on a rant. The scenarios could be the following:

- Arrive at gate 15 and need assistance to get your checked luggage? Let's use a cart for 150 feet and then decend down the escalator. And there we are..
- Get to airport, need to check some luggage. Someone greets you at the curb and helps you through the doors to the AA priority line which is right there. Then they escort you through the priority line, or TSA Pre-Check and then escort you for another 150 feet to the elevator to the AC. Come get you from the AC and take you down to gate which could be less than 200 feet away.
- Connecting? Ahh, sure...

We just used Five Star in ORD and would have paid for AUS too, if it had been available. My 92 yr old father decided to join us for a family wedding and everyone had already flown out to Chicago. Dad is pretty healthy, but he is 92 (and a very proud man, of course. No wheelchair for this WWII vet!) It was worth every dollar to have someone personally greet him at the gate at ORD and get him all the way to the pick up location and wait until we arrived.
In Austin, he managed because the airport is small, but it was stressful (probably more for me than him!) for him to get through security and find the gate early in the morning. It would have been nice if there had been someone to walk him through and then hang out with him until boarding, He did arrive a full 2 hours before his flight. Of course.

LHR info :
- connection from BA T5 to AA T 3
- semi private mini bus transfer (had to wait few mns for a CK couple)
- possible use of the AA FL (use CX J lounge and AA escort pick me up one hour prior departure)
- no top priority security. Just make the regular priority lane and meet the agent the other side
- golf cart transfer to the gate.
- you do not board first anymore. CK now has priority over FS (used to be the opposite or at least board together)
- Escort was helpful and willing to help with an upgrade. (Didn’t work but she tried)

Same experience than last year except than FS is now after CK on all levels.

Thanks for the feedback. It's been unclear whether FS would accept a BA T5 to AA T3 transfer in the past. I've had FS agents say no to my requests on this.

As a data point...

I am flying in on AA codeshare JL metal to JFK then connecting to CLT and asked about FSS to help with connection. The response via email was "Unfortunately, the Japan Airlines aircraft arrives in a different terminal than American Airlines and thus cannot accommodate the greet as a connection. We could start the greet at our terminal 8 at curbside and take you through our Flagship check in area and escort you through security and down to the gate."
