For flight 126 on 12/2, 37 waitlisted and zero cleared at the gate. Probably common on this route.

This isn’t the first time I’ve seen this.
From my understanding, the process to clear upgrades is not automatic - like someone has to process the upgrades. So depending on how busy that team is, there's sometimes a lag between releasing availability and clearing. I've seen it both ways - where we cleared without a EF alert and getting an EF alert so we called in to push through the upgrade.

Wow - I would expect there is some seasonality to this with people trying to burn SWU's before they expire.

I've cleared it before, but I've never flown out on a Saturday. I usually fly out on a weekday to increase my chances.

Ok.. So clearly AA has changed the flight# listed for this thread. I just checked and neither 137 nor 138 has nothing to do with DFW/HGK routing. I was hoping to find a similar thread for the LAX/HKG flights.

The DFW-HKG and HKG-DFW flights are now flights 125 and 126, respectively.

The LAX-HKG and HKG-LAX flights are flights 193 and 192, respectively.

One of the more popular LAX-HKG-LAX threads can be found here.

AA 137 / AA 138 DFW-HKG-DFW changed to AA 125 and 126 in Nov 2016. See the Wikipost at the top of the page.

Thrilled to report that my Y->C upgrade for DFW-HKG on 27 Dec cleared in the last day or two, 5-6 days in advance. All three cabins have been sold out, or nearly so. A fantastic early Christmas present!

I am flying on AA125, DFW - HKG, on 17 March 2018, and yes it is a Saturday departure. I did not know about the difficulty with SWU's (clearing on a Saturday flight) until after booking. However, the dates worked for my trip. I think that AA holds inventory until very close to departure. What do you think my chances are for those of you who have flown this route on a Saturday?
Any comments are welcomed and appreciated.

Depends on your rolling 12 month spend nowadays. If really high, pretty good, if really low, not so good, if medium, it depends

@teemuflyer. Not sure what is a good EQD, I only have $15,000 EQD, probably Low, since you need $12,000 just to be EXP.

Appreciate your insight.

AA 193 LAX-HKG 12/24 cancelled due to crew availability, so now AA 126 HKG-DFW 12/26 is cancelled as well.

Good luck all...

thanks and I was lucky on HKG/LAX today. Guess I could have been more lucky if I were on HKG/DFW as SWU confirmed months ago

Expecting a full flight and now venturing myself in CX F lounge

AA 126 HKG-DFW cleared into Business for a party of 3 at booking! Late July 2018 departure. Seatmap looks totally empty there was only one other seat assigned before our party.
