AAdvantage Aviator Silver and Red Cards from BarclayCard
There are five AAdvantage-linked Aviator-branded cards by Barclaycard. Two of them can be applied for directly, the other three are upgrades or downgrades after receiving a Red card. The Many Flavors of Barclaycard AAdvantage Aviator
Where can I see information on all available Barclays Barclaycard AAdvantage cards?
Aviator Red (On AA.com)
Aviator Silver (On AA.com)
Aviator Business (On AA.com)
Red cardholders may receive an offer to upgrade to Aviator Silver after a period of time that varies, usually 3-11 months. The offer appears in the online "Offers" section, if it is declined there may be no simple way to receive the upgrade. Be careful with your clicking! Silver benefits begin at the start of the next statement, but the increased annual fee won't hit until the next card-member year starts.

I received my card, purchased, paid the annual fee on my May statement. I still havent received any miles from them. I do a once a week call around to Barclays and AA and so far theyve enjoyed blaming each other but zero miles from barclarys.

AA has also told me that they've discovered some type of glitch that has been effecting some card members from receiving any bonus miles. Have you received any miles at all, or just not the 60k bonus?

I'm thinking of applying for this card soon. Do you mind sharing when you applied, got the card, annual fee showed up (and paid)? Trying to get an idea as to how long to wait or if I have no choice but to buy miles

it’s exactly as I stated. I applied, received, used and paid the annual fee all in May. May 23rd the statement closed. I’ve used the card sparingly each month for maybe an electric bill or something.
I just got another email stating they had no updates for me. Just that there were a few dates that were known to not be counting.
barclays have just told me “we sent AA the miles, were done”.

Application/churn rules are set by the credit card issuer. Discussion on this forum is going to be focused on American Airlines and the AAdvantage program. Questions about credit card specific should be directed in the appropriate credit card forum. Thanks. /Moderator

Barclays is somewhat of a wildcat with no clearcut guidelines.
On one hand, they have once-in-a-lifetime language; on the other, if you're approved, you get the bonus.
There are reports of a 6/24 rule, with others reporting that they were approved well above that number.
Then there are reports that actively spending on an existing Barclays card can help approval rates.
My DP: above 6/24, actively spend on an existing Barclays card, and was approved for the card after having had one in the past.

Just applied for the Red and got status under review. Currently at 5/24 but don't have any other Barclays card.
Should I wait the 10 days for the review status or is there a recon number I can call to nudge them along?

Instant. Barclays has the worst reconsideration line... it's clear they are constantly fishing for ways to turn you down so if you don't get an instant approval, I'd say changes are extremely slim of getting a reconsideration agent to overturn, as they love to say, "the system's decision."
