● Admirals Club has reciprocity agreements for access under specified conditions to Alaska Airlines Board Room, Qantas Club, and some individual lounges (e.g. DUB, DUS, FRA, MXP, ZRH etc. Please use the Lounge Dashboard "sticky" thread to easily find the threads discussing these other airline lounge access requirements and to the master threads pertaining to specific lounges. (These do not apply to One Dap Pass holders.)

● Note: Members are able to contact Admirals Club Member Services (see below) 24 hours in advance even when not flying and request gate passes for themselves and others meeting at an Admirals Club for business purposes:

[quote]VISITING THE Admirals Club WHEN NOT FLYING

Members not flying can access Clubs when they have airside access and the airport doesn’t restrict lounge access to departing passengers.

Members can not secure a gate pass from a ticket agent.

Members can not secure a gate pass with merely "declared business purpose" for themselves and others any longer (14 Sep 2016).

Members and non-members can schedule and attend business meetings in the Admirals Club® or Executive Center without traveling if they have rented a conference room in a Club with such and are registered on the daily meeting list. See below.

This requires arrangements at least 24 hours in advance.

FAQ link including a Club access.

Q. I am a member and would like to meet someone at the airport, but I'm not flying today. Can I get through Security to get to the Admirals Club lounge?

A: No. Only those registered in advance and attending a conference in a rented conference room may have access. Casual access / walking up to the ticket counter to request a gate pass is not permitted; please do not put employees in an uncomfortable position by asking.

To do so you must :
  • Present a valid government I.D.
  • Have your name on the daily meeting list
To add names of those attending an event in a rented conference room to the daily meeting list, call at least 24 hours in advance:
  • Admirals Club number/AAdvantage® number
  • Legal name as it appears on government issued identification for each individual
  • Birth dates, including year, for each individual (maximum of two guests allowed for non-conference room meeting)*
  • Location, date and time of non-conference room meeting
We will arrange for Security clearance with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to allow you to get to the lounge. This opportunity is available for Admirals Club members only (and their authorized guests), and you will be required to show your Admirals Club membership card, along with a government-issued photo ID.

*(Times corrected to current service center hours)

Q. CAN I PUR HASE A FULLY REFUNDABLE AA TICKET FOR ACCESS?

It's honestly not a good idea, as this practice is specifically prohibited by American Airlines' Conditions of Carriage (Link):

American specifically prohibits practices commonly known as:

...Fraudulent, fictitious and abusive bookings: Fraudulent, fictitious and/or abusive bookings are prohibited. These types of bookings are defined as ... or to gain access to airport facilities....

"* Here are the rules…I work at the Club

1. Only the primary card holder is a member. Note the word member... The member is allowed to bring in 2 guests Or immediate family which cannot exceed 2 people over 18 and all children under 18. For example John cannot bring in his wife, his 2 daughters and their husbands. He can bring in 2. If his daughters are under 18 they do not count toward the guest count of 2...

2. Our computers tell us if one is an authorized user. (Your AAdvantage number and if you are a cardholder in good standing - jd.)

Nice to see MIA back on the list - makes using BA Avios for Caribbean short-hops viable - Bahamas, Caymans, Jamaica or Cancun for 17,500 AA (less 10% e.o.y. rebate) + 9,000 Avios RT in Y.

I just realized the other day there are blackout dates for these. How foolish of me to think otherwise. Was hoping to use one memorial day weekend.

Reduced Mileage Awards

Greets all: Apologies if I'm reposting, but wanted to get the data up....

AA is running a promo called Reduced Mileage Awards wherein, if you are a cardholder of certain type, you can get awards for a significant discount. I snared two R/T Saaver tix DCA->DFW for a total of 35Kmiles; a 15K discount. I had to call in - you can't do it over the web.

The miles discount was applied with a simple code (in my case, TC8X7A) which the CSR punched in. The interesting thing (to me) was that he never asked me for credit card info to verify that I'm eligible for the discount, nor did I pay with the card that gets me the eligibility. The code may work for all comers.

More data here:
https://www.aa.com/i18n/AAdvantage/e...ed_mileage.jsp

Good luck....

Does anybody have any recent experiences trying to book a mixed (out in Y, back in F) award? I found comments in this thread from 2009 and 2010 that makes it sound like YMMV. The far rules on AA still just require a RT booking but don't speak to a mix of Y and F fares.

Thanks in advance!

I'm planning a trip from NY-Maui using AA miles (not Milesaver). On the way back, we'd like to do a 3-day stopover in LA. Can that be done if I'm using non-Milesaver awards?

I believe it would "price" out as OGG-LAX and a 2nd leg LAX-NYC and not be a stopover. To stopover for greater than 24 hours only works on gateway cities and international itineraries.

Anyone know how I can find out the reduced mileage reward destinations for 3Q 2013 here. Based on what I read in this message board in the past members found out right about now as June 1 is when we can start booking. Any help would be appreciated.

First of all, welcome to FlyerTalk and the AA forum.

I'd just suggest checking the reduced mileage site regularly: http://www.aa.com/i18n/AAdvantage/ea...ed_mileage.jsp

If you're feeling lucky, you can even try calling AA to see if they can access the new discount code and tell you the new cities. (If you look at the recent codes, the second character of all the Q1 codes is a B; the second character of all the Q2 codes is a C. Might as well change it to a D and see what an agent says. )

Thanks for that insight. I will try calling. I have a flight to DCA i need to book for July 10th and I'm getting paranoid as every day less flights available for rewards for that date as we get closer to june 1. So im desperate to see if DCA will be a 3rd quarter destination so I know if I should just book now with full miles or wait to June 1.

Thanks

Terms Changed??????

Today I tried to book an sfo-lga-sfo Citi reduced mileage award for June 10/rtn June 15. The flights showed as available in mileage saver and I booked it setting up a hold.

I called Platinum Desk and after about 15 minutes of waiting the agent told me the terms of the offer had changed and LGA was no longer a valid Airport.

Has anyone else experience this?

Thanks

I would call back. Seems the agents can be hit or miss with this redemption. I had one agent tell me it was 17,500 OW and wouldn't budge. A simple call back resulted in a 17,500 RT ticket with the 10% mileage refund applied to my account following.

Yes, I did what you said and appeared to work.

Thanks
