(These do not apply to One Dap Pass holders.)

● Note: Members are able to contact Admirals Club Member Services (see below) 24 hours in advance even when not flying and request gate passes for themselves and others meeting at an Admirals Club for business purposes:

[quote]VISITING THE Admirals Club WHEN NOT FLYING

Members not flying can access Clubs when they have airside access and the airport doesn’t restrict lounge access to departing passengers.

Members can not secure a gate pass from a ticket agent.

Members can not secure a gate pass with merely "declared business purpose" for themselves and others any longer (14 Sep 2016).

Members and non-members can schedule and attend business meetings in the Admirals Club® or Executive Center without traveling if they have rented a conference room in a Club with such and are registered on the daily meeting list. See below.

This requires arrangements at least 24 hours in advance.

FAQ link including a Club access.

Q. I am a member and would like to meet someone at the airport, but I'm not flying today. Can I get through Security to get to the Admirals Club lounge?

A: No. Only those registered in advance and attending a conference in a rented conference room may have access. Casual access / walking up to the ticket counter to request a gate pass is not permitted; please do not put employees in an uncomfortable position by asking.

To do so you must :
  • Present a valid government I.D.
  • Have your name on the daily meeting list
To add names of those attending an event in a rented conference room to the daily meeting list, call at least 24 hours in advance:
  • Admirals Club number/AAdvantage® number
  • Legal name as it appears on government issued identification for each individual
  • Birth dates, including year, for each individual (maximum of two guests allowed for non-conference room meeting)*
  • Location, date and time of non-conference room meeting
We will arrange for Security clearance with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to allow you to get to the lounge. This opportunity is available for Admirals Club members only (and their authorized guests), and you will be required to show your Admirals Club membership card, along with a government-issued photo ID.

*(Times corrected to current service center hours)

Q. CAN I PUR HASE A FULLY REFUNDABLE AA TICKET FOR ACCESS?

It's honestly not a good idea, as this practice is specifically prohibited by American Airlines' Conditions of Carriage (Link):

American specifically prohibits practices commonly known as:

...Fraudulent, fictitious and abusive bookings: Fraudulent, fictitious and/or abusive bookings are prohibited. These types of bookings are defined as ... or to gain access to airport facilities....

"* Here are the rules…I work at the Club

1. Only the primary card holder is a member. Note the word member... The member is allowed to bring in 2 guests Or immediate family which cannot exceed 2 people over 18 and all children under 18. For example John cannot bring in his wife, his 2 daughters and their husbands. He can bring in 2. If his daughters are under 18 they do not count toward the guest count of 2...

NOTE: Please read this wiki thoroughly to see the recent changes allowing access to authorized users / secondary or ancillary card holders.

2. Our computers tell us if one is an authorized user. (Your AAdvantage number and if you are a cardholder in good standing - jd.)

3. Choice of airline doesn’t matter (as long as you have airside access). You can fly anyone and access the Club. We might not be able to help you with your ticketing but you can come in to charge your phone or computer… or even use ours, all the while enjoying a complimentary glass of wine or well drink".

You can't book these online. You have to call AA reservations in order to get the mileage discount.

I'm not quite sure what you mean re: "sAAver award coming out to less miles." Depending on the card you have, you're either saving 5K or 7.5K miles off of a MilesAAver award for the destination/quarter listed. What are you trying to combine?

From the website it sounded like the 7.5K miles off only applied to the anytime awards (based on the examples they gave). I guess that's not the case?

Citi World Elite EQM Dilemna

So my 10k EQM bonus from the AA citi world elite card just posted to my account and now I'm in total no mans land between gold and plt at 37.5k EQM for '12. I only have one more flight for the year which will put me at around 40k for the year and I'm not doing a MR. I'm totally fine with GLD for '12 and starting fresh with 10k from the bonus in '13

What should I do? Can I request that the AA citi world elite bonus delay the post until jan of '13? Can I ask for additional time to make PLT jan/feb of '13?

Any help is appreciated.

Citi World Elite EQM Dilemna

Given that you basically missed the whole DEQM promotion to get you to PLT this year you'll have to start over next year. If you have some purchased flights together at the beginning of next year why not do a challenge to PLT.

I did the DEQM. That got me over the top to GLD. I was around 27K EQM for the year and them just got the citi world elite bonus that I was hoping wouldn't hit until jan '13

While the T&C is not a crystal clear for me, I believe the timing of posting the 10K EQM doesn't matter.
In other words, I believe if the 10k EQM is posted in Jan 2013, it still counts towards 2012's elite qualification.

No and No. You can ask but you won't get either a delay or an extension to make PLT.

The good news is that you don't really fly much. The main difference between Gold and Plat is double redeemable miles instead of 1.25. Since you don't even fly enough to make Gold without DEQM or your card EQM, you won't be giving up much. For example, on 20,000 BIS miles, it would make a difference of only 15,000 redeemable miles per year.

If your flying this year is typical, I would say to rely on the card to get you Gold each year, there won't be DEQM promos every year.

Has anyone (recently) booked a reduced mileage fare R/T where the listed city is the origin instead of the destination? Does this qualify?

I've seen a few scattered reports in this thread (but from several years ago) where a few members were able to book reduced mileage awards when their origin was on the quarterly list. Haven't seen any recent successful reports though...

According to the terms and conditions of this program, origin city does NOT qualify.

https://www.aa.com/i18n/AAdvantage/e...ed_mileage.jsp

The Reduced Mileage Award program allows Citi® / AAdvantage® cardmembers to redeem American Airlines AAdvantage® miles for round trip MileSAAverSM awards to destinations selected quarterly.
(emphasis mine)

thanks. btw, I did call in to ask and gave the 6 digit award code to the agent. He looked up the fare rules and said it does qualify either way. Since this conflicts with the info above, and because I didn't actually ticket yet and find out for sure, I was hoping to hear if someone else had tried it recently.

Has anyone recently had luck getting a mile refund if you already ticketed an award ticket that subsequently appeared on the reduced list prior to travel? I have a RT MIA-EGE in a couple of weeks that I ticketed a few months ago, and EXP desk could't reticket, as Z inventory is unavailable, but she suggested I call ADV cust svc tomorrow to request a 7500 miles to be credited to my account...

Success - I was able to get my 7,500 miles back for an award booked back in August for travel next week! I had to ask to speak to a supervisor at the EXP desk, who had no problem reinstating the award attached to my reservation and reclaiming a new award. He did not have to cancel the reservation and find new Z inventory. Apparently, they can reinstate the award attached to a reservation without canceling the actual booking. It's nice to know one can book an award with confidence and re-check inside the quarter of travel to see if the city is eligible for the reduced award!! Go AA!

Issues with "ROUND TRIP" Definition

I thought I would post my experience, not that it's new info, but I was disappointed that SNA - xxx - LAX is disqualified for a Citi reduced award. When you search for a MileSaaver, AA considers all LA airports in the "Round Trip" search, so for promo code applicability it is misleading.

I spoke to a manager but they would not (or could not) work around it. Initially the agent insisted the code wasn't working because the route had some minor backtracking involved and the rules are for "most direct routing" ... but when we changed the ticket to LAX departure and arrival, suddenly the backtracking issue "disappeared" !
