● Admirals Club has reciprocity agreements for access under specified conditions to Alaska Airlines Board Room, Qantas Club, and some individual lounges (e.g. DUB, DUS, FRA, MXP, ZRH etc. Please use the Lounge Dashboard "sticky" thread to easily find the threads discussing these other airline lounge access requirements and to the master threads pertaining to specific lounges. (These do not apply to One Dap Pass holders.)

● Note: Members are able to contact Admirals Club Member Services (see below) 24 hours in advance even when not flying and request gate passes for themselves and others meeting at an Admirals Club for business purposes:

[quote]VISITING THE Admirals Club WHEN NOT FLYING

Members not flying can access Clubs when they have airside access and the airport doesn’t restrict lounge access to departing passengers.

Members can not secure a gate pass from a ticket agent.

Members can not secure a gate pass with merely "declared business purpose" for themselves and others any longer (14 Sep 2016).

Members and non-members can schedule and attend business meetings in the Admirals Club® or Executive Center without traveling if they have rented a conference room in a Club with such and are registered on the daily meeting list. See below.

This requires arrangements at least 24 hours in advance.

FAQ link including a Club access.

Q. I am a member and would like to meet someone at the airport, but I'm not flying today. Can I get through Security to get to the Admirals Club lounge?

A: No. Only those registered in advance and attending a conference in a rented conference room may have access. Casual access / walking up to the ticket counter to request a gate pass is not permitted; please do not put employees in an uncomfortable position by asking.

To do so you must :
  • Present a valid government I.D.
  • Have your name on the daily meeting list
To add names of those attending an event in a rented conference room to the daily meeting list, call at least 24 hours in advance:
  • Admirals Club number/AAdvantage® number
  • Legal name as it appears on government issued identification for each individual
  • Birth dates, including year, for each individual (maximum of two guests allowed for non-conference room meeting)*
  • Location, date and time of non-conference room meeting
We will arrange for Security clearance with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to allow you to get to the lounge. This opportunity is available for Admirals Club members only (and their authorized guests), and you will be required to show your Admirals Club membership card, along with a government-issued photo ID.

*(Times corrected to current service center hours)

Q. CAN I PUR HASE A FULLY REFUNDABLE AA TICKET FOR ACCESS?

It's honestly not a good idea, as this practice is specifically prohibited by American Airlines' Conditions of Carriage (Link):

American specifically prohibits practices commonly known as:

...Fraudulent, fictitious and abusive bookings: Fraudulent, fictitious and/or abusive bookings are prohibited. These types of bookings are defined as ... or to gain access to airport facilities....

"* Here are the rules…I work at the Club

1. Only the primary card holder is a member. Note the word member... The member is allowed to bring in 2 guests Or immediate family which cannot exceed 2 people over 18 and all children under 18. For example John cannot bring in his wife, his 2 daughters and their husbands. He can bring in 2. If his daughters are under 18 they do not count toward the guest count of 2...

2. Our computers tell us if one is an authorized user. (Your AAdvantage number and if you are a cardholder in good standing - jd.)

3. Choice of airline doesn’t matter (as long as you have airside access). You can fly anyone and access the Club. We might not be able to help you with your ticketing but you can come in to charge your phone or computer… or even use ours, all the while enjoying a complimentary glass of wine or well drink".

I realize reduced one way awards increase flexibility. But considering the flat phone fee of $25 per booking, the per-flight cost is therefore double for one way awards, thus making OW awards much less attractive than RT. No?

Yes but people sometimes go oneway, open jaws, multi-city or combine them with revenue tickets. Also an option to consider is booking first oneway and coach back. Many reasons why people would do this and the miles savings is worth the extra booking costs...

Of course for those of us EXP, the phone fee is waived and it gives us great flexibility.

Citi AAdvantage / Executive World Elite card – AC, benefits, questions (consolidated)

I have the Citibank World Elite MC, and today I received a nice "appreciation" letter - with 1K bonus miles (thanks!) and a 1-day AC pass. I'm scratching my head over the pass since this card already gives me AC access. I suppose I can give it to someone else, but if that was AA's intent it certainly wasn't obvious. Am I missing something? Or did Citi/AA just not think it through?

Because you will probably give it to a friend, who has never been in an AC.

"Hey, this is really nice! I think I'll join."

Well, I probably won't (WN dominates our local airport). And if that's what they intended they might have suggested it.

It's just marketing.

They give out free food samples at Costco, too.

Call your local Ronald McDonald house or local children's hospital. They might know of a family that would appreciate the AC pass.

They did suggest it (see pic below). I also received this in my snail mail today. I noticed the 1,000 bonus miles in my account a few days ago and had no idea why they were there, but wasn't about to complain.

Hey, is this the new design for the AC one day pass? Looks a lot better than the old one...or is this just a special one for you Citi World Elite MC holders?

Just made my first reduced mileage award booking, BOS-HOU for 3 passengers later this week. The reduced mileage takes a little bit of the sting out of the $75/passenger close-in booking fee. I did not have to pay the phone booking fee (held online, but they didn't even try to charge me the phone fee).

Just to make sure: reduced mileage awards are still valid for the 10% Citi rebate, right? (I saw a post earlier in this thread that suggested so, but no solid answer)

I am planning GRB-LAX economy round-trip for 2 people in Nov and would like to clarify if the following is the only option:

Passenger-1
GRB-LAX -- 12,500 miles + tax
LAX-GRB -- 8,750 miles + tax
Phone booking fee: $25

Passenger-2
Same as Passenger-1 above

Are there any other ways to book the tickets to save on booking fee and/or miles?

December and January were posted today, now in alphabetical order!

Right now I have two one-way sAAver awards on hold. The return trip is a direct flight but the outbound is not. I see from several other threads that if a direct flight were to get sAAver availability between now and departure, there would be no cost to change, since origin/destination/dates remain the same.

Does anyone have experience with trying to do so with an RMA? (I'm thinking there may be a gotcha along the lines of "discount codes cannot be used to put reservations on hold.") In the meantime I have the 5-day hold period to see if any direct flights have availability before I call and purchase.

My original response is buried quite a few pages back, but yes, I can verify that these are eligible for the usual 10% rebate.

I can use my miles to buy someone else a RMA ticket, right?

I'm pretty sure this is allowed but wanted to check before booking. There are people who might come to visit me and I'd like to use the RMA to buy them an award ticket.

Yes, I have done so. You will probably need to pay the phone ticketing fee of $25 though no matter what your status.

Citi Executive/AAdvantage MasterCard-Club Access

Sorry if this has been answered before.

I'm considering applying for the above credit card. Does anyone know if you MUST be traveling on AA to enter the Club? I don't see that anywhere when I read the fine print. I'm in Orange County but travel a lot on Delta/Alaska.

Much thanks to any replies!

I believe you have membership access with or without an AA flight.

Out of curiosity, Why the AA card specifically if you fly AS/DL? Maybe consider the AMEX Platinum?
