Very nice email, that is great. That is the sort of email I expected to receive from AA back in June when I hit the 2m lifetime miles mark, but there was zero recognition or acknowledgement. Two SWUs (which are mostly useless nowadays) did appear in my account. I will have to email them to see if I can at least get some tags.

I received a mailer from AA the other day. It contained a nice note congratulating me on passing 1,000,000 miles and noted that they deposited 35k RDMs.

It also contained two luggage tags with my name and "1 Million Miler" printed on them. Also a new EXP card with my name, AA number, and "1 Million Miler" printed on it. Finally a set of 6 "In recognition of your outstanding service" cards to hand out.

Congrats!

I feel like you should get more than LT Platinum for 6M miles.

Sometimes you have to call and ask. I got Gold tags with 1MM on them when I hit 1MM in 2015. I called and asked for the newer style MM tags and those were sent to me.

Hi all,

I recently got over 2mm on AA. Big relief. The last few hundred thousand took a long time, especially because I fly a fair bit on BA cheap fares that only credit a fraction of the actual miles. Anyway, I had dropped to AA gold and so passing 2mm elevated me to platinum. My platinum status shows on AA, but on BA I still show as ruby. That is the case with bookings made before I made platinum and ones I made more recently. I have tried taking my AA number out of the bookings and adding it again. I don't know if this has anything to do with it being lifetime status, but does anyone know how to remedy this? I spoke to AA, who said speak to BA. BA said speak to AA. Thanks

When I cross the 1,000,000 mile mark next month, I get 35,000 miles deposited into my account. Does this also equate to 35,000 additional loyalty points? Thanks.

Nope, it is just RDM.

Do flight crew or gate agents get any data on passengers crossing million miler thresholds?

base miles vs million miler miles

If I remember correctly, in the old days these two things were the same. I recently flew den/clt/dca. The base miles credited to my account were 2625 miles. The million mile miles credited to my account were 1675. That's almost 1000 less miles. I don't understand why they do this. I will add I have 4mm+ and I am LTPlat so it doesn't make any difference. However, if you were trying to reach 2mm for LTPlat it would make a huge difference? YMMV

DEN-CLT-DCA is 1668 miles per the great circle route.

A map from the Great Circle Mapper - Great Circle Mapper

Base miles is based on the fare paid (in most cases)

For those chasing the MM status, nothing has changed. For those trying to pump their award mile balance, it's a very different world now. spend more, earn more, redeem more. What a viscous cycle.....
