Very nice email, that is great. That is the sort of email I expected to receive from AA back in June when I hit the 2m lifetime miles mark, but there was zero recognition or acknowledgement. Two SWUs (which are mostly useless nowadays) did appear in my account. I will have to email them to see if I can at least get some tags.

It also contained two luggage tags with my name and "1 Million Miler" printed on them. Also a new EXP card with my name, AA number, and "1 Million Miler" printed on it. Finally a set of 6 "In recognition of your outstanding service" cards to hand out.

Hi all,
I recently got over 2mm on AA. Big relief. The last few hundred thousand took a long time, especially because I fly a fair bit on BA cheap fares that only credit a fraction of the actual miles. Anyway, I had dropped to AA gold and so passing 2mm elevated me to platinum. My platinum status shows on AA, but on BA I still show as ruby. That is the case with bookings made before I made platinum and ones I made more recently. I have tried taking my AA number out of the bookings and adding it again. I don't know if this has anything to do with it being lifetime status, but does anyone know how to remedy this? I spoke to AA, who said speak to BA. BA said speak to AA. Thanks

base miles vs million miler miles
If I remember correctly, in the old days these two things were the same. I recently flew den/clt/dca. The base miles credited to my account were 2625 miles. The million mile miles credited to my account were 1675. That's almost 1000 less miles. I don't understand why they do this. I will add I have 4mm+ and I am LTPlat so it doesn't make any difference. However, if you were trying to reach 2mm for LTPlat it would make a huge difference? YMMV

DEN-CLT-DCA is 1668 miles per the great circle route.

For those chasing the MM status, nothing has changed. For those trying to pump their award mile balance, it's a very different world now. spend more, earn more, redeem more. What a viscous cycle.....
