AAdvantage eShoppping by Cartera Commerce
Using, earning miles, problems, etc. (Consolidated thread)

American Airlines is not the contact for Cartera / AAdvantage eShopping .

AAdvantage eShopping FAQs and an e-contact form can be found via the "Contact Us" link at the bottom left corner of the home page.

If you have trouble getting purchases to track, there's also a browser extension to help.

Notes about Giftcards.com:
  • A separate thread exists for discussing Giftcards.com and likely has more data points than this generic thread.
  • Purchases from giftcards.com earn miles on the first $2,000 spent in the named calendar month, meaning for example between March 1st and March 31st. [Note: as of Aug 2023, the $2k limit is per order, not per purchase]
  • Giftcards.com has had various limits over the years, and it was always by calendar month.
  • Some data points show the $2,000 monthly limit is not always enforced. [Note: as of Aug 2023, the $2k limit is per order, not per purchase]
  • In 2022, larger orders track more slowly, and you may need to wait a full month to see miles. Strong advice from the thread is to make multiple small purchases (say under $300) rather than large ones to avoid the dreaded "manual review"
(Copied from the LP thread wiki): Once you click through the AAdvantage eShopping portal to a vendor offer and make a purchase, you will eventually get the associated miles posted to your AAdvantage account as both redeemable miles and Loyalty Points. If the merchant advertises an increase in the miles per dollar spent, you'll earn the higher amount in both redeemable miles and an equal number of Loyalty Points. The same applies if a merchant advertises a higher fixed amount per purchase, rather than a per dollar amount. Examples of this would appear on the portal as, "Extra miles. Was 1 mile/$. Now earn 3 miles/$" or "Extra miles. Was up to 3700 miles. Now up to 6200 miles." However, if the website advertises a "Limited-time bonus offer" for "bonus miles" after meeting a spending threshold, that bonus will only post as redeemable miles and not Loyalty Points. If a bonus is offered for some site-wide activity such as 1000 miles for installing an extension, or 500 miles for enrolling in the portal, or 2000 miles for meeting a spending threshold across multiple merchants, the bonus will only post as redeemable miles and not Loyalty Points.

Some anti-virus software silently blocks tracking, and you may want to consider disabling it for your purchase.

I am 513 LPs short of keeping status (expires 8/1 if I don't get these LPs). I don't have any travel on AA planned until after 8/1. Which deal should I pick where I can spend the least amount of money to get those LPs and quickly?

Yes, this is the eShopping thread. I was asking which shopping deal would be the most lucrative where I’d be spending the least amount of money to get those LPs.

I already have a Motley Fool subscription going so that’s out.

The verizon offers are sometimes pretty high, unsure if you could sign up for new service or add a line, then drop after a month.

They have suddenly gotten real slow posting miles for me. Everything in the last 3 weeks is stuck in 'pending' except for a small Lowes purchase, and they are pending a reversal of miles for wineinsiders.com from back in May, perhaps because UPS screwed up my delivery and the order was reprocessed? (UPS sent it back to sender after a single failed delivery attempt to a third-party pickup location who decided to refuse delivery, and their customer service line is horridly incapable of fixing anything).
------

Yesterday, I scored 10 pts/$ at ulta who had my spouses 'only acceptable' shampoo and conditioner on sale. Stocked up for the year and scored something close to 8000 pts on a $600 purchase (including the 20% bonus) of $1000 worth of shampoo which I've struggled to find onsale otherwise for the last year.

It depends on if you're looking to buy something that you would be buying anyway, or if you want to spend money on something "unneeded" just to get the LPs.
For example, if you have a pet, PetSmart offers up to 10 LPs / $ now and then, so buying a large bag of pet food would give you the ~500 LPs you need.
If you're looking to spend a little money just to get the LPs, paying $15 for a one-month Pimsleur Language Program subscription will give you 1,000 LP.
HelloFresh will send you a box of 6-8 meals for about $35 and you'll earn 3,500 LPs.

I already have a Motley Fool subscription going so that’s out.
There's also Millionacres (the MF "cousin" run by the same company) that'll give you 6,200 LP for $95. But if you only need 500+ LP with less spending, there are cheaper ways of getting that.

Things vary. If you want to pay money for things you don't want or necessarily need, to get points: MarketWatch subscription, Sams Club membership, Blue Apron. Or book a stay for later this week using Rocketmiles or BAAH and don't show up. "Least amount" will require you to compare- I don't know the current offers.
If you want to purchase things you need, while getting points, you'll need to pick your store, click through the AAshopping portal, and do your shopping. (We use for pet supplies, home depot, etc)
If you want to get the points without spending anything: milesforopinions.com
If you want to get points for eating at restaurants you may normally already eat at, Aadvantagedining.com

Thank you! I think I’ll go with the Pimsleur option!

I ordered through Apple on the 10x bonus day (6/26) with the education discount. My miles are showing up as 'Pending' for the MacBook at 10x miles, and for the $150 bonus gift card at 3x miles. We'll see what eventually happens, but I'm hopeful they'll post.

Confusing that they advertised the 10x miles along with the education discount (as well as linking to the education site), while excluding the education discount in the terms.

I did a Simply Miles double-dip on a Viator booking.
The Simply Miles posted at booking/payment (late-May) and the AAdvantage Shopping miles posted this week (tour was 2 weeks ago although it showed as late-May).
A pleasant surprise!

The good thing is this is the last year we need to qualify for status, as we are all getting flying cars in 2025....

FAA approves $300k flying car that can vertically take off in traffic (msn.com)

My miles just posted this morning. Loyalty points and redeemable miles showed up on my Aadvantage account, so education store definitely works.

Any recent success of Marriott posting miles?

I searched this thread and some took as long as 6 months with help from customer service. Marriott's terms of course says 90 days. Add another 30days of investigation and beyond 120days, the store visits history disappears on AA shopping. Screenshotting helps but gets a bit tedious after a while.

Wondering any thoughts of tackling this. Tia.

I'm seeing the "best rate history" across all the various travel miles/points portals. Any way to filter on just what the AA portal was offering?

I usually have to submit my missing miles requests for Marriott after the 90 day period. After doing so, they usually credit it within a week or two.
