Will those bonus points count towards a challenge? If someone signs up for a challenge say May 15, and flies half of the challenge requirements, can they still successfully complete the challenge?

Still seems a good move.
Also in competition with Delta's promotion for double MQMs
I was seriously considering trying them out as it's only 75K for top tier and only have to fly half of that if you do it by June 30.

Seeing this means I'll stay with AA as I already am almost renewed PLT for next year, plus the possible extras if I can hit 125K EQM

Thanks AA!

Also, whats the deal with hitting 125k EQM? Few people mentioned that...

I don't think so. That thread doesn't mention the 125K bonus.

Agreed. I'm not complaining. ^ And actually I've diverted a lot of my travel from AA elsewhere in the past 6 months, this is definitely making me consider bringing it back (to qualify for PLT, EXP for example).

Ah, on close inspection, those special awards are not just by qualifying. You have to get more EQP than minimum qualifications.

Incredible offer and incredible timing! I've got at least 36k of flying b/w now and June 15th. That just became 72k+ Requalifying for EXP is not even a question now. Great timing, and I agree, not necessary to make up for last week's fiasco.

Is this a targeted promo only, or can any elite register?

Thanks for the post. Hadn't stumbled into this and just in time for some travel.
Yes, and also an attempt to salvage their second quarter which looks disastrous. Bad news for EXPs as the already swelled ranks will grow exponentially.

You do not need to be elite. This offer may be used for first-time qualification.

Disastrous? Yesterday, during the conference call, Horton said that second quarter bookings were off last year's pace by about one point of load factor. Fuel prices will probably lead to a disastrous quarter, but I don't see this promo having the capability to alter that in any meaningful way.

Exponentially? I'm skeptical.

Still, last time AA did this the double eqm promo lasted about two weeks or so. Two months this time was overkill, IMO.

I checked with AA. You were right, it counts. I bow to your greater knowledge.
