Last year I made it on points, then miles, then segments. A trip to HKG and BOM in J really helps with the points.

Always on miles the years I made it, except for 2002 when I was carried over. (Had 75K through Sept. 10 of the previous year and was on target for the rest. Then the world changed. One more trip in the remaining almost 4 months.)

Sit in a comfortable seat, preferably aisle, hopefully J, for 6.79 seconds.
Rinse and repeat 100 thousand times.

114 segments in 07, out of DFW. It's not easy, but it's worth it.

I made EXP the past couple of years based on points. Lots of ex-CMB or ex-TPE tickets on CX. Typically do about 3 of those per year and then a few AA flights in between.

In 2007, via points. I reached 108k points and 88k miles by Dec 31. Thanks to ricktoronto and his superb fares out of YYZ!

Points through transpac flying on codeshares.
Four trips over in J, each time from the US on a codeshare (once on MU LAX-PVG and three times BR LAX-TPE), returned once on AA metal, twice on JL and once AA/BR codeshare. It also helped that connecting in TPE to HKG or NRT added distance as well. With some personal trips, finished with 104K EQP, 79K EQM.
